Got my butt kicked in air v air

Gents,

I fought a seasoned player and lost badly. I had level 6 intercepters vs his level 5 tactical bombers. He came in 3 waves. I intercepted, did some damage. Then he got through and destroyed my air base. So my planes are taking 25% damage landing (I think) and I'm driving back to the next base. While I'm driving, here comes the next wave to hit airfields or planes in trucks. It took some time but I lost. This was a battle of 60 v 60 planes.

That said, I am a newbie. Where can I learn tactics to maximize my airpower and beat seasoned pilots when I have superior planes?
