Most of the changes are for the good. Well the game ain't perfect but its just as alright as its always been in my opinion.

How is COW in 2024?
I haven't played for quite some time.
I hear massive changes were made to the economy? Amphibious tanks? Operations? These new command points replacing gold?
So much has changed and I am not sure if this is for good or much worse. Would it be worth it to return?

The game has been simplified. If you like simple games, it has gotten better.
If you like hard core strategy, it has become worse.
If 'quite some time' means like 2 years, then a number of serious bugs have been ironed out by now.

Resources are cut like in half, you can't do anything unless you spend gold. Don't even dream to play this game for free anymore. Anyone who disagrees, lies. Rivers look fun. Rest is the same old.
