I am Japanese so can only understand English at an elementary school level.

But ofcourse It is also often said that it is difficult for speakers of any language to understand jokes ( other than dirty jokes ) made in another language though.

This is because in order for a joke to work, at least, the content expressed needs to be out of harmony with the reader's mindset and common sense.

In order to realize this fact, just like a spy, you have to know what kind of mindset or common sense a person with a certain attribute is statistically likely to have.

Simply put, you have to know the other person's culture.

I don't think necessarily that you are responsible your to make someone understand, but I regard this thread has a lot of international culture or multi culture.

So, If you have the will to respect people from all countries, I wish you to be as also tolerant as possible towards people who don't know your culture.
