How to defend myself by sea?

I want to defend myself from an overseas attack by egypt and america. Whats the best way to do it? I'd build lots of u-boats and put one on every node (about what you see in the picture). If a u-boat then saw any enemy troops i'd send my big navy stack. Is there a better way to do this?

Something I saw in Supremacy and have used in WW2 (sometime)is to put militia into transit ships. Not fast but cheap, spread out about 10 in areas you think your enemies will come. And yeah sleep in 30 minute increments.

Ok so when I’ve got a large area to cover. Spread around some low level units. Different mixes, doesn’t matter. If possible yeah hide them in appropriate terrain. But the thing is to have your power held in the rear. Once you know his location and make up the rest is easy, just don’t panic and start throwing units at him Wiljy nilly. Imo the best defense is counter attack. Let him come until you’ve got numbers then strick.
