How to survive as Poland in a HWW

Poland is probably the hardest country to play as in Historic World War. While you have 60 victory points, a fair economy, and a decent starting army, you have one large problem. Location, Location, Location. Poland is wedged between the Soviet Union and Germany. Germany has half of their gigantic army on the Polish border. The Soviet Union has their forces concentrated near you. The Soviet Union could pick nearly any country near them to attack, but they usually pick Poland. How do you survive, let alone thrive, as Poland? The first thing you should do is try to become allies with either Germany or the Soviet Union. Sometimes, this won’t work. However, a well written message might get them on your side. If you get one of these giants on your side, you can fend off the other. Try to improve your popularity with other players. Write role playing newspaper articles, be nice, and make allies. You will need them.

If the Soviet Union Attacks:

Don't quit. You still have a chance. The Soviet Union is powerful and rich, but it's units are low leveled and not concentrated on your border. Their first attack will be strong, but you should be able to handle it. Use a core defense of infantry, armored cars, and artillery to halt the advance. Attack their planes before they attack yours. If you use the terrain to your advantage, and use fortifications, the Soviet Union's front line should be fizzled out. What you do next?

The Soviet Union can produce many times the number of troops you can, so you need to act fast. Once you have destroyed the Soviet front line, advance a few provinces forward. You don't want this fight to be on your territory. However, if you move too far forward, you will run into stiffer resistance, and risk the chance of the Soviet Union flanking you. Build fortifications, and try to get allies.

Upgrade your artillery, infantry, and planes. Use the maximum casualty policy. Use the terrain to your advantage, and match the Red Army's troops with your own. Keep advancing. If an attack overwhelms you, fall back. Build infrastructure. You will be able to survive for a while with this strategy. However, the chances of winning alone are slim. No matter how good you are, you will need luck to be on your side. You need allies.

If Germany Attacks:

If Germany attacks you, you are definitely in a deeper hole than you would be in if the Soviet Union attacks you. The German Empire has many high-leveled units, and they are concentrated on your border. In addition, Germany has units in Konigsberg ready to attack you. However, there is one chink in the German Empire. One German province is empty. So? That province is connected to Berlin, which is defended by 1 infantry and 3 planes. Taking Berlin will help you a lot. Take out those 3 planes with your own. After that, send a few units towards Berlin.

While this is one bright side, most of your frontline will be annihilated in it's current position. Your best hope is to fall back to Warsaw. At this point, you have two choices. You can put all of your units into a defensive line, or you can take some units out of the line, and send them towards Konigsberg. The 1st option, in my opinion, is better. In a war with Germany, you will need everything to be in the right spot. Build planes and artillery. If you do, you might have a chance.

If Both Attack:

If this happens, you're probably done for. However, you can still hope. Fall back on both fronts into one defensive line with fortifications. Get allies. In your defensive line, produce units and hope. Without allies, you can't win. If Germany and the Soviet Union are not allied, you could try to make them attack each other. This could save you. All in all, your chances are very slim.
