It's day 4, I've got 51 divisions up. I'm planning on invading Mexico. Light tank and motorized infantry spam is really nice. I know artillery is really good for chipping, but I like blitzing through my opponents with 25 tank divisions. They're really fast and get the job done. I think armored cars are also a good option and I'll probably mix them in with my light tanks. The troop buff from Axis is also very helpful.
I have 230 victory points, but in the newspaper it only says 100 victory points. I'm probably just going to capture mexico, then defeat the neutral AI, and then launch an invasion of Africa. I've got a ridiculous amount of resources (some more in the stock market) except for manpower.
You seem to be doing pretty well. I'd just suggest you get some naval support for your invasion.
