Honestly while he was a dictator who massacred many thousands of Croats and suppressed his people, he kept Yugoslavia stable and United with no outside influence for decades, even humiliating Stalin. Everyone in Yugoslavia was better off with him than a puppet of the USSR, though he should have transitioned to a democracy at least before his death to keep the country stable. His foolish decision to take out loans in belief that the west would collapse ended up screwing his country over, but it wasn’t because he was evil.Crowat wrote:

I’d say he was one of the best dictators in history. He was a way better person than he could have been, and extremely kind for a dictator. Pretty good, though far behind Ataturk and the Saviour.

As Carking said above, Tito did kill many innocent civilians (Muslims and croats were disproportionately affected) and that was wrong, but Yugoslavia as a whole was better off with Tito than it would be with, say, a radical pro-Serb or pro-Croat dictator.

And I don’t think it’s okay be comparing dictators like this. Both men were responsible for the deaths of tens of millions of people, but saying one was worse than the other just doesn’t feel right and is bound to make many people angry.MarshalOfVictory89 wrote:
