Normal ground units vs Mechanized

Do you like tank destroyers more or anti tank? Do you like Mechanized anti air or regular? Do you like motorized/mechanized infantry or regural infantry? Normal Artillery or SP artillery? If you like normal units more vote for normal if you like the oil variants more vote Mechanized. You can discuss 1.5 and 1.0 but I only played 1.0 and i like mechanized more.

mechanized is faster, and speed is very important. Even if the enemy has a larger stack, you can use smaller but faster stack and the large enemy stack won't be able to catch up.

Mech all the way. The only reason NOT to use them is research or resource considerations... do you have the oild to support them?

Only exception is AT; I never build any tank destroyers cause they're just not worth it, while towed AT is a favorite for quick local defense, especially in 1.0.

I only use mechanized units in offensive situations so I can outmaneuver the enemy. I prefer using regular units on defensive theaters due to cost effectiveness. My opinion is more like 50/50.

Are we talking 1.0 or 1.5 ?

On 1.0 I used to prefer mechanized until I met a player with a lot of AT (both normal and tank destroyer), and then I realized that the same thing counter your tanks and your mechanized units.

Since then, I prefer motorized, except if my economy is so healthy that I can do both (typically in a case where you don't need to tech up the navy too much) in which case I will still use mostly motorized but with some mechanized in reserve, especially to quickly counter an enemy attack.

On 1.5, I am still to make my opinion, but so far I find motorized >> mechanized due to the speed difference and the steel cost of mechanized in an economy where I feel it is more needed. If you have axis doctrine, Mechanized is absolutely useless.

I read the question as "foot vs. mobile", not "motorized vs. mechanized", due to the examples given (AT vs tank destroyer, etc).

Infantry is the only branch with THREE variants (foot/mot/mech) while the others just have two (AT, AA and artillery just have foot/mech). As explained in a different thread, I REALLY REALLY enjoy mot.infantry as it is currently implemented, and in fact I think it should be nerfed.

The good thing about mechanized Inf in 1.5 is that it has the same defensive and offensive stats, making more powerful in combat where both parts are used, and making it flexible enough that you can use it for defense and offense. It also has slightly higher offensive stats than Motorized and more HP. This is of course off-set by the lower speed and different resource requirements.

So I think it has its use.
