After having played a lot of usual map where the most part of players get inactive in a couple of days and the most part of the rest know nothing about tactics without mentioning strategy I decided to try a map with elite AI hoping that intelligence settings for elite AI are much more higher than that for usual AI. But to my disappointement this so called elite AI is as stupid as common AI - no ******* difference!!! What did I pay for? In other threads I read that if I start attacking without declaring war then all my neibouring countries will declare war on me. OK. Tomorrow I will attack myself all neibouring countries without declaring war and I am prety ******* sure that all of them and any others joining them will be smashed if they proceed acting in an as stupid way as they do now (casualties count - me - something about 500-1000: enemy - 30-35 K). I expected that elite AI wold manifest something like tactical flexibility, meneuver defense, unit stack concentration but alas. I am very frustrated and disappointed. Why do developers call AI elite if it is nothing of the kind, if there is no difference between "elite" AI and the usual one?
Elite AI certainly isn't smarter than most players, however, it is still more advanced than the basic AI. For the most part, however, it is a gold function that players use to boost their military ranking, as fighting basic AI does not help your rankings.
Elite AI has a value it shows as your reputation, as your reputation drops with a given country, it will embargo and declare war on you.
Yes when you are playing the Elite AI you have to make sure you read the newspaper before you attack another country. It will tell you who the Most Dreaded nations are and the Most Friendly or what not. If you attack a friendly nation without declaring a trade embargo first and then actually declaring war before you attack them you will piss off a whole bunch of other countries and will probably wake up the next day at war with 5 or 6 of them.-
Watch the paper it will tell you who you should attack next. I'll surround their borders first, then declare a trade embargo for a whole day, sometimes this will provoke them into attacking you and your reputation won't be harmed at all. After that day I will declare war and then wait a few hours before actually attacking. If you do it this way the whole map wont declare war on you and you even make more allies because you are getting rid of a "Most Dreaded" country.
Thank you for the advice but I do want to be attacked by a whole bunch of surrounding countries because I am horribly bored. I want to see what this so called elite AI is capable of.
Please tell where in the newspapaer I can see my rating or watever - how can I see from the newspaper that I am about to be attacked?
