In 1.5 I think a lvl 1 nuke bomber is like 84 hp (77 for pan-asian).

The defending AA needs to be able to do at least that amount of damage in one attack round.

If your AA is lvl2 (10 damage AFAIR) you need 8. But if you have other units in the sector, they will contribute too.

A better way is to intercept the nuke bomber so it is partly damaged when it arrives, Then it is more feasible to shoot down (unless it's a gold-player who heals it mid-air)

Other wise just make tonnes of anti air with artillery and use fire control. Using medium tanks is good, but to save resources, regular anti tanks and light tanks can do the trick, then split of the lights with SP anti air and distort the enemy, remember, time is a key factor, players that opt for nuclear weapons might sleep more or be working overtime, hence that they might afford some research.

The best means to fight this game between two or three dedicated coalitions is to use intelligence, submarines, nuclear battleships and loads of technical equipment.

If any of your planes/units are in the blast area, they will indeed take damage.
