Also, I just finished up my war with an active South Africa player who had 3x my army at the beginning of day 12 according to the newspaper. That was one of the most fun wars I've ever fought.
Oman Empire - All Nations All In
Hey everyone! When the 'All Nations, All in' event came around a few weeks ago, I was so excited to choose a small country and try to take over the world. Therefore I bypassed Yugoslavia, Manchukuo, and British Egypt to choose OMAN. With such such a small country, the margin of error is extremely small, so I knew I was likely going to die within the first 5 days.
However, we're 21 days into the match and I'm doing much much better than I expected. I have 130 victory points and am in a coalition with Turkey, Venezuela, and Manchukuo. Not to get too cocky, but I'm excited to win this match

Nice. What was your strategy to reach that level ? Especially since you did not ally the powerhouses of the game, nor is Oman in a very good starting location - I would say it is much worse than the Dominican Republic (comparing between OCM). Turkey is the only country in the list that makes it, barely, to Tier B.purplepizza117 wrote:

Also, what does Oman start with ?
@Chimere I think I started with maybe 9 or 10 units, I remember 6 militia, some anti-air and anti-tank. I guess my strategy was to identify key regional allies early on and to make sure I had some insurance troops out at sea if my country was invaded. Click on the spoiler to see an entire breakdown of what strategy I kinda had for this match; I don't want to bore you with a wall of text if you don't want to read it hahah
Spoiler
Early on I knew I would probably be invaded by either Saudi Arabia or Persia so I tried to ally to them, but Persia only gave me right-of-way and then they both joined a coalition together with Turkey actually. So I thought I was done before I even started. I produced as many troops as I could and moved them out to sea to give myself some insurance of being able to conquer other places.I got a little lucky in that at the same time as Saudi Arabia went to attack me, British Egypt attacked him so I was spared. At this point I tried to invade Persia at Bandar Abbas but lost about half my troops. Luckily I still had my other 8, so I rushed in and took Riyadh as the rest of Saudi Arabia fell and allied with British Egypt. Next I entered into my current coalition, only it was Mongolia instead of Turkey; Mongolia soon went inactive so we're invading him along with the non-coalition nation Japan.
It was pretty smooth sailing from there; I kept all my core provinces plus an extra city, so I went down and invaded Portuguese Africa (both Mozambique and Angola). Then came the challenge of conquering Belgian Congo against an active player, but it wasn't too bad. After taking some French land (bc the UK player had just declared war on them and I wanted to get as much land as possible), I moved both into Morocco and then attacked South Africa at the same time. That's where I am now.
Thatβs really interesting, especially the very first days. I write Β« action report Β» myself but rarely read the one of others as they are not up to my taste, but really I had pleasure reading & imagining how you did it.
D1 to D3 survival requires a Combination of diplomacy and luck, but luck favors the prepared spirits.
Due to this, very hard to hold firm when the dice are not aligned as an OCM - so I commend you on that Not sure I would play the Β« send troops at sea Β» card myself.
Mid term survival requires more luck but also really skill at managing very spare resource to be both relevant as an ally, able to expand but all that while industrializing for the late game. It also requires tactical skills to do the most with the few troops you have. You canβt afford anything below letβs say 1:4 ratio in my experience
How did you manage SA ? Some screenshoots ?
Haha I appreciate your commending of my rather dangerous strategy. I did build two destroyers to escort my troops but I did not anticipate any of my neighbors to build any ships to defeat my convoys, thinking that even if they invaded me they would immediately be turned on by "Oh, this silly OCM player hasn't built many troops" and thereby underestimating the strength of my army. I expected to be invaded and ally with a regional power to try to get core provinces back, but I didn't need that strategy.Chimere wrote:

5 militia, 1 infantry, 1 anti air, 1 anti tank, and 1 submarine (idk why they have a sub tho)Chimere wrote:

Many minors start with a submarine for some reasons. Dominican Republic is 6 militia, 2 AA, 2 AT... and 1 submarine for instance.
wow.
Haiti should start with 1 milita, nothing else, it doesn't have an existing army even now.
Yeah man I really wish I took some live photos of the conflict. I've started to take some now just so I can post them in the future.Chimere wrote:
Read that ; really cool. Indeed, too bad for missing some "in action" visuals so we get what happens, but the writing style is on point for the task.purplepizza117 wrote:
@Chimere Didn't take any live screenshots of South Africa but I took some photos of the map and explained the goings-on here.
Here's some live photos, and some bonus photos of how weird Europe is. I think I'll hold off on attacking anyone else for a few days, but not for lack of trying. See here.

@Chimere You'd be happy to see this part of my journey, as I have now reached Day 26 of my Oman Empire. I have been passive the last few days, but am now back into the swing of things as far as invasions go.
Picture 1: I am confident that I am just about to eliminate all of French armies in north Africa. France has been fighting back against the UK and recaptured Algiers and Oran, but I am going to capture both before day change. Unfortunately when I was out of town and went AI, my AI nation marched a 9 stack of troops into range of a French battleship and I lost the entire stack, as well as the AI nation spent all my goods and money on something or other. I can't even tell what the AI bought, but I had over 500k money and 70k goods and now I have little over 5k of each.
Picture 2: The rest of my country is mobilizing after a period of strict industrialization. My armies are either moving northwest to gear up to invade Portugal and Liberia or northeast to invade the rest of British Egypt and Mongolia, as seen in picture 3.
Picture 3: British Egypt declared war on me during Day 25 and had many provinces in former Saudi Arabia, so I have officially conquered all of their provinces. Next I am turning my attention to Mongolia, who despite going AI, still has a decent amount of forces in Saudi Arabia and it will be no easy feat. I expect to gain one or two more cities by taking out Mongolia.
And there's where we are! Exciting times, especially because my coalition is only 1000 victory points away from reaching victory, though we have only 17 days to do it. Hope you enjoyed.
Day 28: I have taken all of French Africa and Liberia, as well as the Mongolian cities near my core provinces. The images show my mobilization to finally invade the Portuguese homeland -- I have been at war with him since Day 6 -- and from there, I will help my coalition mates launch an invasion of the British Isles. Enjoy: Oman Empire Day 28
