Pan Asian artillery is so good, why do you need anything else? It's even good against unarmored units, giving you more reason to build more of them, which makes you even better prepared to fight heavy armor. Plus the speed makes it less likely anyone will catch you, so you don't even need blockers or bombers. You can literally just built artillery as your only land unit, if you want.
Panasian vs Heavy Armor
I have been studying some of the doctrine's pros and cons, match-ups, and such. One that has caught my attention is Panasian. Their bonuses, in land, naturaly favor light compositions, which wreck unarmored/light troops. However, when it comes to dealing with Heavy Armor (HA), they come off as lacking.
Allies have great TD's, SP artilery is also a great option.
Commitern cheaper boosted tanks can keep up even with Axis armor, plus artillery spam, the HP boost on attack bombers is also nice.
Axis does not even need explaining.
Then you go see Panasian and things look not that great...
Their main counter unit would naturaly be artillery. Cheaper, upgrades earlier, and with that 20% speed boost. Heavier compositions are naturaly slow, allowing them to kite and wear down HT's with ease. MT's, specialy speedy axis ones, could prove more challenging, however.
Question is, outside of artillery, what other options does Panasian have to deal with heavy armor?
An issue I see is that most of their decent anti-HA options options are dependant of goods.
AT ordnance is unboosted. Their terrain bonus makes them decent I guess. Then again, should one spent those goods instead of using it on artillery, which is also ranged and proactive?
Attack bombers could also be an option, since panasian excells at stablishing air dominance. That being said, their offensive land bombers are lackluster. Worse case scenario, you have to face an HT/AA axis composition which can punish your already HP lacking planes.
You could also fight armor with armor, but they seem to have the worst tanks out of all 4 doctrines, even their HT and TD research unlocks later. I guess TDs must be decent, could even pull off great with terrain bonuses, but they are sort off your only option because of your lack of options.
So you pretty much stick to Artillery + TDs.
The conclusion I mostly drawed from this is that Panasian is naturaly weak to HA compositions, Axis and Commitern late game comps being the most dangerous. From an offensive point of view, this would encourage me to build up strong HA armies (which I argue one should be doing on anyways) when facing a Panasian, knowing they would struggle against them.
I am guessing as Panasian you naturaly go crazy on artillery, so maybe this is an issue only on my head, since readily available speed boosted ordinance does sound quite OP.
If anyone has some experience facing strong HA as Panasian, I would love to get your insight.
