yeah i see that but wouldn't it be better if you could go to a city that has the plant for that type unit and get it repaired?

Ummm... No. Illogical. How would you heal planes and tanks?

Repair? How can you repair an infantry division of a 1000 men of which 500 men have died? Because that's what it is, one unit represents a brigade or a division. If your division is at 50% of it's manpower how are you going to repair it? If a tank division lost half of its tanks in battle and is only at 50% strength. Those tanks are gone and they aint coming back.

The 15% healing mechanic each day change represents reinforcements joining the division, healed soldiers being dismissed from the hospital, newly produced tanks joining the division,...

The one thing I can't understand is upgrading, like how can a Pz. IV G turn into a Panther in 3-4 hours? Is it like reinforcing the tank brigade with new tanks? If yes then where do the old tanks go?

That is harder to imagine indeed. Personally I view those upgrades like reinforces and war scientific revolution with better technology and equipment.

Well, this game cannot be that ultra-realistic, come on it's a GAME. There has to be SOME perks.

I'm not sure why this is so difficult a concept for many to understand. You would "repair" the unit in much the same way a new unit is created in the first place. Think about it, to use the example of a 1,000 man unit suffering 50% casualties, you would recruit, train, and equip 500 new infantrymen instead of 1,000. This would largely be similar to how a new unit is created, but with "repairing" a damaged unit, you would use the exiting unit as a frame to fill out a complete new unit. Presumably this would be easier as you would use the original unit with experienced NCOs and officers and integrate the fresh troops. To stand up a new unit from scratch, you would presumably need to identify and transfer experienced NCOs and officers from other units. I think it would be easier to do if the unit at 50% strength were back at a facility that produces these units, especially for ships and other unit types that would require extensive refurbishment to bring back to full functionality.

I also find it illogical units could upgrade away from one of these facilities, but hey it seams to work without having an adverse effect on game balance.

What about a more simple solution: allow units to just be... repaired. Use the upgrade mechanic, but instead of upgrading, you would pay resources to have it get repairs, during which it, like upgrading units, cannot move. You can further build upon this idea by making this only possible in provinces with specific structures that allow this.

Should I make a new thread about this? Considering that it is a different idea than the original one presented in the creation of this thread.
