There is a hard limit of 50 active games. Archived or not, they will stay around until the game ends.Even though you left, you will have to wait for one of those to complete before you can join another.

Rounds
So Ive joined a lot of rounds and i cant join any more.
you have to many parallel gaming running.
In some of the games in the archive I was defeated, but the actual game was not deleted for me.
Help.

I thought I was getting crazy by jumping in on 4 games that had open seats.

The last time I had three open at once, I quit the third one, the one that I had most recently joined. I was lucky someone didn't wipe out all 40 or so units I had before I was deemed to be inactive in the game. My style of play is very hands-on and very time-intensive, and perhaps a little bit obsessive, but I (and my allies) have some good results to show for it.

I was looking for some Cargo Drop opportunities and helping otherwise moribund games have some activity.
They are winding down. I am not doing more than twice a day check-ins and activity generates invasion.

I had 4 open once, luckily 2 were almost done when the 4th (PL) opened. Now I shoot for 3 max: 1 - PL, 1 - FP, 1 Supply Drop/other.
