Some questions for advanced players

Hey, so I always wondered a few things:

  • When you have an industry that's damaged, does it still produce the same output as if it were fully healed? If NOT then do you guys have any data for that on the ratios of percent damaged to percent of yield affected? I've noticed my factory was damaged like 80 something percent and it still output my units at the minimum time. The main question I'm asking is, is it worth it to repair industry if you're not planning on needing it fixed for like an upgrade or something?
  • How do I not get the AI to hate me? I put enemy players on embargo for 1 day and then declare war, yet I'm still the most hated.
  • When first starting a match, I'm torn between building units and conquering lands quickly versus building strictly industry. What do you think really pays off the most, especially if you're fast and good at taking others land?
  • Why can I never get destroyers to attack land units when it says they deal damage to them?
  • When attacking a convoy in the ocean with your navy, is the enemy convoy dealing damage as if they were on land? And if not, how do I determine how much damage their convoy deals because I don't see it in the units stats menu?
  • When spying on other players, I've noticed strange trades coming from other nations, almost as if the one nations sole purpose was to give everything they had to that player. It makes me think they have multiple accounts in the match. Is it against the rules to have more than 1 account in a game? If so, would reporting the player do anything?
  • Can you explain exactly how patrolling works? I read the wiki but it didn't answer 1 thing. I understand if my plan is patrolling it does less damage but also takes less damage, however, is the ratio of damage taken to damage given the same or different than directly attacking?
  • Can you refer me to a good post with advanced tips please?

#1 - I'm actually not sure. If your barracks is level 1 and damaged, it will stop producing. But I can't remember if there is any impact if your level 2 or higher barracks is damaged. Usually, later in the game, I have so many barracks that it doesn't matter if one gets damaged, so I never really pay attention.

#2 - The AI hates you because you've declared war on other countries and taken land and gotten powerful. Going to embargo first then declaring war doesn't make up for you invading six countries and having a large army. But don't worry -- it really doesn't matter much if the AI hates you.

#3 - It depends on the situation. Going all out on economy could pay off in the long run but you might regret it if you are attacked early. Going all out on units and early invasions might net you early conquests, but you might regret not having invested in your economy when you run up against the guy who had lots of time to build up.

#4 - Destroyers have no ranged attack like cruisers and battleships, but can still end up in a land battle with a land unit if the destroyer and the land unit are right on the coast.

#5 - Transport ships fight using their "vs. Ship" attribute, which is 0.8 if they're level 1. Of if they're fighting subs, they use "vs. Sub" which is 0.5 at level 1.

#6 - Yes, they are most likely multi-accounting. Not sure if it is worth the time reporting it.

#7 - The ratio of damage you give out and take should be the same as if you directly attacked. While patrolling, you give and take half the damage each attack, but you get more attacks per hour than if you directly attack. You'll end up doing (and taking) more damage using patrols than regular attacks, because patrolling is continuous, while direct attacks require your planes to return to base and refuel after every attack.

To add a few too that:

#1 - buildings simply count "partial", i.e. when you have a L2 building with 50% damage it functions at halfway between L1 and L2. The minimum build time is just a cap; if your buildings are "too good" they cannot build faster than that. If they are above their cap, take some damage, and STILL are above their cap, yes it doesn't matter.

#3 - try to do both. When you're good at the game, you can do a lot with the initial unit set, though adding some artillery doesn't hurt (and it mostly uses res you don't need for expanding industry anyway). To a lesser extent, also goes for infantry or militia. Resource centers in core cities should also be a BIT of a priority, though not as much industry.

#8 - just browse this forum, especially the longer threads, there's a wealth of information here.
