The rise/fall of the Third Roman Empire

Background

Hello, guys. It has been a while since I posted my last game because I’ve been busy. In this game, I’m hoping to experiment with the strategy of militarising. In game3 &4, I generally industrialise my cities and rurals right from the start of the game. However, I saw two players yielding a better result even in terms of economy without building industries. So, in this game, I’m setting a constraint to myself-no industries. I’ll spend all my resources in the military. So how to compare the results yielded? I don’t think army size can do it because militarising will usually get a larger army size. However, I want to compare the resources production. If you have a larger economy, your army will gradually become stronger, right? I have written down the resource production figures in my last game for comparison: Day2 44201 Day6 60915 Day 10 91024 And the production rates at the Spanish game after 12 days: cash: 3685/h goods: 652/h food:759 mp: 611 steel: 599 oil: 769 rares: 648

It’s impossible to have the production up to44k in day2 without industrialising. But I should have produced more resources from day6 on or I can’t call the strategy successful. Let’s see how the game’ll go. Personally, I’m not very confident in this play style. Maybe the game will change my mind.

Choice of map: to general disappointment, I’ll play CON again. Sorry guys, I’m just too busy to play more competitive games.

Choice of country: I’ll go for Axis again. This time, I’ll choose Italy because of its long coastline and unfavourable relief(mountain).

You need to merge your stacks into 5-10 units, you’re losing so much because you are foolishly moving in single units that get crushed when you are away. Keeping your stacks merged allows them to survive any enemy and will overall reduce casualties significantly.

That infantry was safeguarding a city behind the lines. I’m not those who use single infantry to attack or I would already have lost all my units

Majority of my units are merged in the way you said already

You should not split very much at all, this is like the 5th unit you’ve lost?

The 6th.

The first five was a stack. I thought a German stack would be weakened by French units enough to be defeated. Turned out wrong

The components of my army are: 2 infantry stack( heavily damaged)

2 stack with 5 med. tanks, 5 mot. inf. and 1-3 Sparty

One is fighting in Libya and the other is dealing with the units Algeria is sending to my cores

Day 8( 90 still)

Research: Sparty L2- Idecided to skip others for now

Construction: RCs non-stop, 2 L3

Production: a sub only due to the upgrade of med. tanks

Progress: Algeria captured my oil island-again. I checked 4 hours before with no convoys. How on earth did it happen? And damn Algeria! My economy is repeatedly disrupted.

Libya: 2 cruisers bombarded the mega stack in capital all day. With 10 fled and 1 killed, the stack was finally left with 2 med. tanks at 60 hp(originally 350). We have reached the border of Algeria, but unable to advance further due to fleeing units from Libya’s capital

I’m mostly online twice, less than AIs. Most battles are melee combat

Fall of third Rome… does that mean you die in the end? Or is it still going?

CarKing the 6th of the Abrahamic Caliphate

It’s still going. I don’t know whether I’ll win, so it’s rise/fall

I’m debating with myself whether to win solo or coalition

Solo.

Day 9

Diplomacy: Sweden went inactive and is being slaughtered by Canada and AI Finland. So only 3 players remain: NUS, Canada and me. Both of them love battleships and single units. NUS's kd, even though mostly fighting AIs, was kept below 1 before AIs started bumping into battleships.( 110 points) Canada has an 8 k/d though all gained through bombardment. I'm now 110, at 2nd place. The first is Germany with 120.

Progress: Libya's capital changes to Ottawa. The war against Algeria has finally become a ground battle. The second stack is joining the battle.

Other things as usual

Comparison point 2

Much to my surprise, with fewer cities captured, my economy is at 2nd with 62895- slightly higher than it's in the last game! But I suppose it's because manpower counts.

Oh no. I've mistaken the dates- I already produced 100k+ resources at day 10. So it's a large gap

My first trade embargo from Spain. Hope it doesn't turn into war

Perhaps you should focus on player assassination. Try to kill all remaining active players so that once they go inactive you can retire from the game and get first place without a need for invasions.

V2 ROCKETS

Super cheap to produce and you can destroy entire city's buildings in MINUTES at a high enough level. Then roll in with them unable to produce new units, they'll go inactive and you can retire the game

I love V2 bombs.

Also, build subs, if they have many battleships this is the only thing that can save your coast. As Italy, you can have all your cores leveled.
