Time to end the "NEW" player advantages

I think it is time to stop giving "new" players in game advantages like extra units and extra production outputs. I understand the intent. Help out "new" players who don't know the game and give them some extra strength until they gain more experience.

But it is failing in at least 2 ways.

First, at least 50% (probably more) of new players don't make it past day 4 and it just makes it harder to take them out when they go AI on day 5.

Secondly, 3 straight maps and I see returning players creating new accounts and pretending to be "new."

If you have bad stats and want to reroll into a new account I really don't care since I don't care about your stats anyway.

But you are getting "new" player advantages, and this gives you an unfair position.

End the game balancing for "new" players. It doesn't work anyway.

3 Games in a row now. A returning player pretending to be "new." Getting unfair advantages when they aren't new. It's getting old now and the advantage needs to go away.

Problem continues. Returning Re-roll players getting advantages in units and production rates.

Cheaters also love this.

They create new accounts to help their "real" accounts, and these new ones make full use of the new player advantages.

That said, i am not sure removing the advantages is the best move.

Could a better identity check be made?

I'll offer a solution that may not be what you want to here. Don't play tutorial maps. Problem solved. No "new player" advantages.

Are tutorial maps different from usual CoN maps? I play lots of HWW so I’m not really sure about it.

Playthroughs might be coming. I will try my best to not get killed :) but if I do, pls forgive me :S .
Playthroughs have to wait, could be making one soon, or not. If not wait till next year.
Have a good game :)

How? They have already done what they can, if somebody uses 2 devices it’s unreasonable to ban them (at least I think so), there’s no solution that everyone likes. :(

For AI just use arty to knock them out. Both easy and fast. I agree with you though.

Tutorial maps are ones in which have no level requirement to join. Therefore making them accessible to new players who receive those bonuses. If you play a map with level restrictions to join, there will be no one receiving those bonuses since new players cannot join them.

That's a good point about playing maps that require levels to join. Hadn't thought about that option. Good idea.

It is also affecting how many people actually come in to play the game-- if you take a look at the tutorial, it literally teaches you to waste a perfect 3 hour card on 5 minutes of infantry and barracks. THE TUTORIAL TEACHES YOU TO WASTE MONEY!

Even the only moderator in chat encourages this with blatant lies:

NuggetTheBast:

Call of War is literally P2W

no, this is a free to play game, do not bash gold or those that use it

if there's a new player that makes it past day 4, nowadays it is most likely not a "new" player-- especially if they conveniently ally a country that already has expanded across half the map by day 5 while they remain small, tucked away in a corner which is conveniently surrounded by that big country.

THIS IS ALSO A WAY FOR CHEATERS TO IMPROVE THEIR STATS ON THEIR "REAL" ACCOUNT, AND OVERALL JUST PERFECT FOR CHEATERS!

The p2w issue is also making the game a lost cause-- look at supremacy 1914. It used to be a true state-of-the-art ww1 strategy game, now it's summed up as the following: Buy goldmark, buy heroes, make a stack of 300 by day 2, ignore everything else, win.

Sound familiar? IT SHOULD! Call of war, with all of these new additions to cater to new players, is becoming more like "Buy gold, buy cards, make a stack of 60 by day 5, win" and less of "use strategic diplomacy, work together with players to expand and gain resources, make new friends, have fun."

Ending β€œNEW” player advantages in games is all about leveling the playing field, ensuring that all participants compete fairly regardless of experience or account age. While such perks can help beginners catch up, they sometimes create imbalances that affect long-term gameplay, making fairness and strategy the real rewards. Game developers often address this by adjusting matchmaking, rewards, or progression systems so that skill and planning matter more than initial boosts.

In a similar way, wearing a top gun jacket maverick reflects confidence and readiness without relying on shortcuts. Just like the jacket embodies boldness, courage, and a hero’s spirit, true gaming skill comes from strategy, practice, and persistenceβ€”not temporary advantages. Rocking the iconic bomber jacket can remind players to approach challenges head-on, level the field, and embrace the thrill of authentic competition.
