Turkey. I’ve won two HWWs as Turkey - both coalition victories of course, but I got up to maybe 700 VPs in one of them. Good positioning to Syria, Greece, and Afghanistan. Also can invade USSR in the north east if you’re confident.
Underrated countries in HWW
When a Historic World War round starts, usually the first countries to go are the UK, the Soviet Union, the USA, Germany and Japan.
And I think everybody would agree Xinjiang sucks.
Let's ignore those coveted group of five, and also the weak 50 VP countries. What are some underrated medium-size countries (70≤ VP's beginning) that have strong potential to become great powers? That can easily become regional powerhouses even in the hands of a weak player? That have favourable resource production or location that allow them to develop quickly?

Brazil, South Africa, Persia, India and Xinjiang.
Brazil is underrated, especially if countries like Germany, Uk, or us are inactive
Thank you! Turkey is so fun ISTGSamPGS_17 wrote:

China is amazing. Their resource production is higher than most countries, including Japan, so late game they actually have potential to get stronger.

They can outproduce all except the United States and USSR in their cores.Carking the 6th wrote:

The only problem is you need to be skilled enough to repel a Japanese invasion. If Japan is skillful enough to make major inroads before industrialisation and mass recruitment can begin, you're buggered.
As Japan, I try to capture Chengdu and everything west of Sichuan by the end of Day 3, earlier if possible.

Yeah, so as china, you need to get some artillery, take advantage of terrain buffs, coupled with infantry/militia. and some bunkers. Japan should attack by day 2 probably, otherwise China's army will be decent.
I had a nice China game, I attacked tibet, and took macau to make battleships, france attacked me but I beat him easily. then I proceeded to take all of continental asia except for Japan, then invaded the USSR. Game ended as a solo win with 800+ VP'sTheZhukov wrote:

By the time I actually got on the game, Germany took over Yugoslavia and Persia took Syria. And Afghanistan is past Persia anyways.
and there’s absolutely no way I’m attacking Soviet if it’s Carking
Nice for me. Very nice…
