Units firing on neutral units

BUG REPORT

I noticed in my most recent game that submarine units fired on neutral units.

Please fix this bug as soon as possible.

Thanks.

I think that they should have left the fire at will like it was (firing only at enemies) and created instead a blockade command (firing at both enemies and neutral countries trying to run the blockade) ...

This is not a bug but intended.

In one of the last updates the fire settings have been changed so that players can setup a navy blockade. If you don't want your troops to engage:

1: adjust your fire settings with High Command

2: give all AI nations ROW

3: give all friendly nations that are players and near to you also ROW

This way your troops will not engage with neutral countries.

I rarely like to give give ROW to nations that are not my coalition allies.

For a third time, terrible mechanism that doesnt understand how Naval traffic works.

The problem i personally have is that AI's commands are so random that you can see a US battleship cruise from Washington near the St. John island for no reason at all (seen a lot of times on the 22 player map (random AI ship movements)). And so when i send troops there (example i play with UK) i cause a war. This update would be good with Trade Embargo: If in this case US declares Trade Embargo to the UK, then it should fire at near ships. That way Trade Embargo could finally have some use?

Doesnt mean that it is a good mechanism. FYI some times the AI wont accept neither SM or RoW, especially on historically accurate maps.

Any player that knows the game a bit knows they need to give ROW or even Shared maps to all AI countries on the map just to avoid that kind of situations.
BM fox: I understand what you mean ... But I have not been to a game yet where a player that was inactive comes and takes back his country ... And I could be in a situation where I'm vulnerable to attack ...

In my current game (39 historical map) that could have happened when the French player came back with a resentment after I wiped out all French territories in Europe ... Fortunately, he could not do much from his African territories ... :/

When a player comes back you just change your settings back to peace ;)
