War of Attrition-Maximum Casualty Policy

War of Attrition

*note: my other threads include great defence tips and are more extended than this thread.

World War Two did not end with ease. Japan and Germany turned themselves into impenetrable fortresses. An invasion of Japan was estimated to cause a total of 40 million casualties for both sides. This is the guide on how to turn your nation into an impregnable stronghold in its most dire days to defend against any relentless enemy that dares invade the homeland.

Every nation will someday be locked in brutal conflict. And victory is never certain. As the leader of your nation, what can you do to ensure the repulse of any invasion on your homeland?

Imagine your country has lost a war. You have retreated to your Core Provinces and are awaiting invasion. You have little time and little forces. Spend your time and men on the following:

Never Surrender

Always remember to use the terrain to your utmost advantage. Upon homeland defence bonus the terrain bonus will make your provinces very hard to conquer. Commandos on mountains, tanks/anti tanks on flat terrain and infantry on hills. Begin constructing what I call the Hydra Defence Complex. It means that depending on the size of your country you will make multiple lines of fortifications in strategic places. For example, if you have mountain terrain and lots of commandos, placing most forts on mountains with commandos would make them virtually invincible with so many bonuses. The Hydra Defence Complex would take form over provinces that suit your troops best, but also in important places. Losing 10 rural provinces is nothing compared to the loss of a city. Remember to keep units in cities on the defensive. Hydra also means that the border f your country will receive lvl 1-2 forts only to delay the enemy.

Remember, whilst on the Defensive, if you and the enemy are active you can lay complex traps. For example, you may spot a tank with a weak motorized infantry. He would give chase and you could lure the unit into a pack of anti-tanks.

Falling back and Guerrilla Warfare

Remember, even if you have a single province left don’t give up and try to damage the enemy most in a war of attrition. Always have a Defensive Pre Guard, a units slightly ahead of your main defensive units, so if they spot a strong unit coming up that you cant beat your main defensive force can retreat while the guard delays the enemy.

*Move your capital if enemy nears it.

*Never give up.

*Attack from unexpected ways.

*Cause maximum casualties.
