I think it would be cool if they added weather or seasons to call of war. Each day the weather could be different which would affect the game. For example, snow could lead to slower troops and grounded aircraft aswell as a possible comintern boost and axis nerf. Fog could reduce unit vision and range, but reduce Anti-Air damage. Rain could reduce speed on plains. Sun would be default to how it is right now. I think this could make the game more realistic and more interesting. What do you guys think of this idea?

just realised ther is a similar, yet more fleshed out thread o tthe topic
First actually good thread of its kind
This should add pls
They could just have the simple 4 seasons
I was thinking the same thing except what would be the changes for spring summer and fall? just unit camo changes?GrandEmpire wrote:

summer will be faster units but it takes longer to refuel or something like that, fall and spring will be ideal conditions for the army
well, fall will be lots of rain and stuff, so camo changes and some stat/speed changes summer would be, not necassirly "summer" but more like the effects of extreme heat and deserts. Winter is obvious, Spring would be default the one rn,
I don't think Bytro can do that.
ohh, they can do anything
They can,they can
if you can fund some money......
I think it would be great if we had weather forecasts too... an investible technology thing, where your forecast of the weather over the coming hours/days gets better and better. You'd have to build weather stations though, in the general direction of the prevalent wind direction of the region you want to forecast. These might be under attack as well from enemies, to ruin your forecast. Weather should also depend on geographical latitude of course, so tropical and arctic effects of weather would differ greatly, but large bodies of water around (i.e. oceans) could mitigate the effects of that. When large numbers of oil are consumed golbally (i.e. a lot of mobile units, planes, and ships are built) there might be a global warming effect of that as well, causing weather to become more extreme, with tsunami's and earthquakes and hurricanes and all that. Volcanoes would be nice too. Then if you built a Greta Thunsberg unit, the effects of that could be diminished, though you'd have to reduce resource consumption to get that; however, there could be a military-industrial complex around to fight these developments unless the morale of the people was too high (or too low?) to support that, and if you built a flying dragon unit it could...
Seriously, guys. You don't want to go here. It is always nice to think of stuff that would make the game more complex, but remember that this is a simple simulation game, where ONE human controls an entire empire, and gameplay must remain limited in complexity. Heck it is already too complex for a large part of our player base (marching militia along with light tanks, anyone?). Weather wouldn't even add interesting game possibilities; it is basically something that just "happens" and doesn't really add interesting gamplay options. Again, don't go here.
would love to have these as wellK.Rokossovski wrote:

I am fine without weather thank you very much.
Also, it is extremely complex to do well, given the weather is not the same in say UK and New Zealand, so you can't just say "they just have to put 4 seasons in the game".
Greta Thunsburg unit! HOW DID BYTRO NOT THINK OF THAT? GIMME GIMEE
