I'm thinking one of these two combinations:

  1. CVs + Asia Map
  2. Paratroopers + Marines + Small Map (like the Med one)

The past is a foreign country.

Yes I really want paratroopers and marines will be good

maybe they might bring landing ships that opperate similar to aircraft, eg only a certain range and need to refuel,

I like the sound of that

and an Asia map might be interesting

Such bullshit... even the DUTCH had/have marines, and if you know anything about Dutch military strength and dispositions, that should say something...

Sovjet marines called naval infantry...

They were used for example in crimea, Leningrad and Stalingrad.

The Brits have the Royal Marines

The French have the Fusiliers Marins and the very well reputed Commandos-Marine (French Navy SEAL)

The Italians had the San Marco Marine Brigade, which were absolute Space Marines and was according to von Arnim (Rommel's number #2) the best unit available to him, when including both Germans and Italians.

The Japanese Navy had a massive land force. The Americans probably fought more Japanese "Marines" then Japanese "regular land army" in their island hopping.

Only the Germans really lacked any sizeable Marines force.

Way to go on necroing a thread from 5! years ago.

God damn and now I am a part of it too...

i actually knew about Brtish and French marines, but not the rest yet i still think the idea to be added to the game is stupid.

For a seaborne invasion, the preferred entry point is an undefended province. So yeah I agree, there wouldn't be much point to include them as "fights very good when landing". A shorter disembarcation time would be useful though.

yeah but that already fits in

I suppose it's kind of understandable to think this. US marines are different from other marines. Traditionally, marines are part of the navy and are put on board ships to board enemies and stop mutinies. The US uses marines as shock troopers that make up for their lack of heavy equipment with speed. Basically the US marines are assault units that coordinate with the navy. With the decline of boarding (and better treatment of sailors) countries who had used marines in a traditional sense changed them to commandos that assault from the ocean.

So yes, the USA only had American style marines but other countries had regular marines and small groups of commandos.

Almoast all marines (almoast every country wich use it) are assoult troopers, like paratroopers, but with ships instead of cargoflyers.
