Worst countries

So there are many countries which pepole think are the BEST but what are the WORST countries? So what do you think are the worst countries? You can talk about any map. From my experience the European nations for 100 player map almost never win but i dont play 100 player map so it could be just a coincidence.on 100 player map African and South American nations seem to have the best chance of winning.

I have played several games in the 1939 map, where there is always a major melee in Europe ... Thus, restricting ourselves to Europe, the 2 major countries most likely to get killed in the first 2-3 days are:

1) Poland- particularly sandwiched between Germany and Russia, and

2) France- two major countries always seem to attack them (e.g Germany, Italy, UK or Spain)

Thus, personally, I would stairway from those two ... 8)

"always", "never", "worst", "best"...

This thread is not even a joke.

Haha but u have so much to research for navy in the beginning so u canโ€™t take over Norway then call it good.

Except you also have some of the highest RM production in Europe. You take over Norway, get more oil, research better Destroyer/Cruiser stacks, then battleships, and bam, you have a naval force.

The last game I played I won as Sweden, and I had the best and biggest navy [and army ... and air force lol] ... because, in no small part, I took over Norway right away. It all depends on how a game develops and what allies you can find ... and your opponents.

In 100 map the best countries are South Africa or Occidental South Africa, not so far from Europa and Asia like the countries in South America, good resources and only one or two ways to attack or be attacked.

Kind regards :)

luxemburg and danzig for sure

no seriously, congo and NZ are terrible

The worst countries are the ones that have already been conquered in any game you are in :tumbleweed:

There is no worst country. It all depends on the player. However, I would say countries like Central Russia, Kansas, and Kazakhstan who are either surrounded by other players or extremely inland has a big disadvantage.

papua new guinea best in pacific conquest cos its an island so its easy to defend it if u do sub spam. smaller coastline than australia and nz

One day there will be no more wars

The worst I'VE ever played was Greece. Your starting resources are complete and utter garbage.

For the 100 player maps, it all depends on what your resources are.

eg Nigeria and South-West Africa have plenty of oil AND that oil is near the sea, so free maintenance port for you. On the other hand, Tibet or Maranhao start with terrible resources (mostly steel). Maranhao is worse than Tibet.

In addition, some countries can really be leveraged better by a good players compared to a mediocre player due to geography. In particular, European countries or South Asian countries are cool from this regards.

Island countries (Australia, S-E Asia) are pretty bad, except maybe Madagascar and UK (need to check the resource start though).

I guess you have played Sweden wrong then. I have won most of my games as Sweden and it has naval access.

Worst country for me is Turkey and potentially Communist Russia.

It can depend on the map you are playing as well.

I beg to differ. Island Countries are some of the hardest countries to invade. You gain a sheer geographical advantage from the start of the game. Even if there's just a narrow waterway between you and the mainland, that's still hours lost to embarking and disembarking. Also, Sumatra is exceptional in the right hands. Enough food for a massive infantry-based army.

This is just my preference, but I don't like playing land-locked countries, because I find them too vulnerable to invasion from all sides. I prefer countries with at least one access point to the oceans.

Except that you also have an horrible time attacking, and critically you canโ€™t easily reallocate troops for attack or defense because if someone lands while you are attacking you have no troops you can call back quickly. The one counter your have is to build a large navy - but thatโ€™s that much ressources you canโ€™t allocate to actually invading.

Later in the game the situation gets better because you can mostly defend with a couple naval bombers you keep at home, but you are still slow to attack, you need to micromanage your convoys to avoid losing them and if you lose either the naval war or the land war you are back to your island. Though yes at least you donโ€™t disappear at once.
