Applies to new games only?
Release Notes - 2025-05-27

Manpower cost reductions - buffs for close air support - map improvements for the Arms Race event map - critical bug fix for Anti Air units.
Good news for the troops on your frontline - reinforcements are coming! Manpower costs have been reduced across the board, putting more boots on the ground to where you need them the most. Bigger cost reductions were applied to later unit levels, making this change more impactful in the phase of the game where Manpower becomes a major bottleneck.
Meanwhile, spies have become a bit too good at their jobs, so we’ve tightened their leash. Sabotage spies can no longer trigger the “reveal all armies” action, restoring some much-needed fog to the fog of war. You can still supply your HQ with vital intel by using Intelligence spies, which can trigger the “Reveal Local Armies” action in adjacent provinces.

We’ve also made some key adjustments to your close air support. The introduction of ranged Anti Air has made life tough for planes that like to linger above the battlefield.
To remedy this, Attack Bombers had their damage buffed against armored targets and Naval units. Get in, land your hit and get back out - now you are getting more boom for your buck!
Additionally, Tactical Bombers have received an upgrade to their Hitpoints, making them better at absorbing incoming rounds. This way they can loiter longer while slowly and methodically tearing your enemies apart.
In the meantime, long ranged Strategic Bombers were thriving. They excel at delivering precise strikes against infrastructure and population morale. To reign in their efficiency, Strategic Bombers have had some of their payload taken away - less bombs means less damage against buildings and province morale.

Based on community feedback we’ve improved the resource availability and distribution on the Arms Race map. This should lead to fairer starts, more strategic variety, and fewer moments of “why did I already run out of food again?”
Further we fixed a bug where Anti-Air units with fire control set to “aggressive” forgot their manners: They would open fire on neutral aircraft without triggering any diplomatic consequences. Now, if you damage a neutral nation's planes, expect them to return the favor - war will be properly triggered as it should.
For a closer look at all the changes please check out the detailed Release Notes and share your feedback with us right here on the Forums and on our Discord Server.

Yes, correct! Apologies about that one, forgot to mention that in the news post.WayneBo wrote:

NOOOO! That was one of the only reasons i used sabatoge spies! Since it has become less useful, will it raise the probability of them doing their job or a less chance of them getting killed?
Forgive me for being honest, but it was a terrible update and I disliked Bytro even more. These spies are one great part of the 'strategy' involved in Call Of War, and removing it would only make the game less fun. The others...I just don't like changes but I'll get used to them...just like most others. I like the arty nerf because I use them a lot in the early game, but when I play PA...it might suck...I have to get used to it (sigh). But espionage...Bytro, what are you thinking? This was the game that I had loved since 2 years ago and doing this...I have nothing to say except one word: terrible.
Playthroughs might be coming. I will try my best to not get killed :) but if I do, pls forgive me :S .
Playthroughs have to wait, could be making one soon, or not. If not wait till next year.
Have a good game :)
That was literally how I planned most of my late game attacks, with the Sabatoge spies...
Well if you can no longer reveal all armies there are some fundamental flaws.
1. You cant see naval units without reveal all I dont think. In reality that is absurd.
2. You can't gauge the strength in terms of level of an enemies forces
3. Reveal all helpful when up against a larger, much larger opponent now not available
4. Losing reveal all is a golder/cheater godsend.
A total moronic decision by Stillfront/Bytro. Along with their poor servers it looks like they are slowly closing things down so it is only a useful game for golders.
Agreed...it would've been better to have certain gold-free rounds, because golders are real problems...but I don't exactly know why Bytro refuses to make such a round type...even making it an event would be nice to non-golders like me...perhaps Bytro neglects those good, fun-loving people that plays this without money...unfortunately, most CoW player are this type of player...CoW would be perfect if gold is eliminated, or it Bytro sets a limit to the amount used in a single game...this game should be focused on skill (milsabs) and not gold or war bonds (another terrible invention)...I was so disappointed about Bytro that I want to stop playing...but I have friends here and I would never forget my first game which brought me so much...but it seemed to be over now...

I am happy with gold to a point, but perhaps limiting its use in a game would be worth a try.
I like war bonds because you can get on quicker and heal. Leaving say a plane that is 'beat up' I think can take 12 days or so to be 'new' again. Bonkers.
I think the concept of repair is badly overlooked by Bytro. As said repeatedly my solution would be this.
On a mission a unit can heal itself up to say 20% of its value - to help escape/limp back to base. Otherwise forces can only heal to their full strength at a production facility. Planes can heal to 50% health at an airfield but 100% at an aircraft factory. This has some equation with reality insomuch say a b/ship severely damaged would go to a repair yard an aircraft (probably written off to be fair but) would go for full restoration. Troops a hospital.
Some forumers argue for hospitals no!!! Just use their production facilities (barracks) as hospitals.
These changes would make it more realistic and take some of the aggrievation away of 'ugh - I just hit his tank and now it's healed itself again' issues.
Great move to eliminate "Reveal all Armies". Will actually make strategy a thing again in what is supposed to be a strategy game! Now nerf the purple gold and maybe the game can go back to a strategy/game planning adventure instead of pay to win.
Hey make a spy that can be positioned in a province that revels armies when they pass through, not only at day change. Think properties of an invisible armored car. Give it a 25% chance of being discovered.
I don't think any of your advice should be used, but again, I'm not used to changes so that might be it.
But...
I don't think there should be gold, no matter in what form, because it creates unfairness that couldn't be controlled, which is different from unfairness in HWW. I hate golders and will never become one!

So I’ll throw in my 2 cents I’ve mentioned before that spy’s needed to be reworked- I’m also on record as overjoyed when they took away reveal all from the agents Did Bytro listen? I’m glad they’ve made reveal harder. It makes one think deeper, more tactically. I’m happy with this change— others I haven’t been. That’s life that’s war and change is good( Viva la revolution).
Now that said Bytro taketh away Bytro should damn well give back!
Here’s my suggestion; More stealth- I’ve long wanted a reconnaissance unit, it could pass though enemy cities without being caught or being seen.
Example: A reconnaissance unit goes it enemy province- it can see enemy troops and resources it can’t take the province.
As a counter I suggest that an unmanned province has a 15 percent chance of revealing the unit, ( there’s always one snoopy busy body person who reports everything).
Ina garrisoned city/terr. Perhaps a 50% chance of reveal.
Anyway that’s all said just to start discussion of idea for more units. In another post I mentioned patrolling- that needs reworking too!
Walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction, taking every wrong direction on his lonely way back home.
Removing the reveal all units is a good move.
Except for the fact it is very difficult to reveal naval units with only "reveal local armies".
We need an alternative for that, or we risk spies becoming even less relevant.
Another option is to make spies more relevant in other ways.

Was the nerf of Arty versus heavy armor intended? That was their main role. Rocket Arty remains the better choice against unarmored and light armor units. There's even less reason to build Arty now.
I hope they only nerfed L1 arty, because it’ll be disastrous in late game

Nah reveal all was terrible and unstrategic and super easy to achieve, no skill required. Just place some sabotage spies in some empty provinces and it was almost guaranteed to get a reveal all every day. And who would even place counter intelligence spies in empty provinces? It was a poor system all around, and the reveal-all action was absurdly overpowered, especially in lategame. By removing it, strategy was added back to the game because now you actually have to properly scout, or use intelligence spies in a skillful way without them getting caught.Providence 031 wrote:

Yes it was the intention to make regular artillery more into an anti-light armored unit. Have to use Attack Bombers, Anti Tank Guns or Tank Destroyers to counter Heavy Armor. SP Arty is also still better against heavy armor.z00mz00m wrote:

(btw I wasnt involved in the change, just explaining what the intention of the team was)
It effects all Arty levels. If you want an arty that is good against Heavy Armor, use SP Arty instead.Providence 031 wrote:

Freezy I think you are talking cobblers.
The reveal all helps smaller nations against the big gold goblers, a player you clearly support. If you want a decent strategy game you have a lot to do regarding gold, healing, submarines.
A bit damn ironic that the biggest deal for reveal all was naval units. The one thing that mattered and happened irl. Perhaps Bytro being German is too painful to admit that the Brits cooked em right proper with Ultra which in the game you have removed.
Revealing naval units is important. The spy function now is pretty crap. Just helps the bigger greedy players.
Best explanation on why reveal all should NEVER, EVER be in this game again. 100% agree with freezy.freezy wrote:
