Resources Reforged - Test it now on Beta!

We will be making important changes to the resource system in an upcoming update. Two resources - Goods and Rare Materials - will be removed from the game. These resources, previously acquired by conquering provinces, will no longer be part of your war economy.

With fewer resources available, competition over the remaining three - Fuel, Food, and Steel - will become more intense, leading to heightened conflict and more meaningful economic choices. By making resources scarcer and more valuable, we give you a deeper, more rewarding strategic experience.

As this shakes up the very fundamentals of Call of War, we want to give our loyal Frontline Pioneers plenty of time to test this update. This is why we have already made the changes available in newly created beta games.

So start up a new beta map, and send us your feedback in our Discord server. This is your opportunity to influence how we iterate on the change before it hits the live servers for all players to enjoy!

With the removal of Goods and Rare Materials, we’ve given all maps a shake-up by redistributing the remaining resources. Discover exciting new opportunities to expand your economic might. We’ve introduced two new setups for rural production: a 4-1-1 layout, where one resource is more plentiful than the others, and a balanced 2-2-2 layout, where all resources are equally available!

To maintain overall cost balance, we also had another look at production costs. We used this opportunity to change the resource needs for different unit types. Before, similar units all used the same resources, but now there’s a lot more variety!

For example, now Interceptors mainly need Food, Tactical Bombers rely on Oil, and Strategic Bombers use a mix of everything. This adds a fun twist to your build orders and trading with allies - planning ahead just got a whole lot more rewarding for the discerning strategist!

We’re excited to see how you tackle these changes, and would love to hear your thoughts - make sure to share them with us right here or on our Discord.

Your Call of War Team!

God, makes me sad, I really dislike this change. I’d rather have had more resource complexity and issues, especially because that would make countries of choice matter that much more, especially in historical games where Japan and Germany somehow don’t have resource trouble. Saddening…
I feel you...

Guys, stop beefing.

They can’t leave anything alone. They’re motivated by greed and will do almost anything to bring in moolah.

It’s not like they’ve lost almost all their stock value...

How did that even happen?

@Carking the 6th

It’s 2024 not 2004

fine, here is a corrected verson:

on October 23 2 thousand and 24, we where told, and we where told rescorces would be removed.

It would take affect soon, rescorces would go away, some people where sleeping, others awake, when we where told rescorces would be removed.

On October 23 2 thousand and 24, we where told, and we where told, rescorces would be removed.

I think I'm going to like this change. With rares and goods there were too many resources. I can't wait to try out this new resource system. I'll be able to build the necessary units and buildings and continue production of my war machine instead of always missing that one resource that cost 30 cash that some players make it by manipulating the market. I think we'll be able to produce the necessary units when necessary. And buildings too. Maybe we'll see more propaganda offices and infrastructure being built . It's going to be less realistic but much more fun to play. Let's wait and see. It should be interesting.

Like I said in the "Live Soon" thread, it helps small 1-city nations in ACAI

Yikes. If you struggled to manage resources before, you will still struggle with the new update. The problems you are experiencing will only be worse with fewer options.

No idea...

Look, it will not make anything better, its just a way from Bytro to milk the game and dumbify it, you will STILL have to pay, and with less items, everything becomes more expensive, lower supply and more demand. Economic dont change for a shitty game update.

Worst take I have ever seen.

Why does everybody think Bytro is greedy and milking money. For me, I'm spending less money on gold now that they have warbonds, so they are being generous because they are making less money, from me anyway. Why do people have to post on the forum and say their quitting because of the changes. Nobody needs to know you quit, just leave. Nobody is interested in joining your improvement party campaign. The game is getting better and will continue to improve with each new change in gameplay. They are being generous and making less money for the good of the game. Boosters, Warbonds, less resources, speed maps, all these mean they make less money and they willingly take less money from us because they want the game to be more fun. Not every game company is in it for the money.

Well, in can't agree with the specifics, but I do appreciate the positive attitude.

I have never spent a penny on any game in my life and I'm still enjoying CoW

Is there a list somewhere? I would like to take a look at the new unit costs.

Because they are.

All this game has come down to now is the developers have created a huge cash cow in war bonds and want to milk it for all its worth. They dont care about non-paying players because they don’t bring Bytro any profit. All they care about is what’s in it for them.

Spot on.

I know. On their “historically accurate” 1939 map: I put “historically accurate” in quotes because the map is actually far from being historically accurate. Not only do nations start with resource shortages (or lack thereof) as they had in real life, there are glaring geographical issues and fallacies that haven’t been addressed in the map’s years-long history. For example, Burma should be part of the British Raj, or remove the Raj entirely and make the whole thing a British colony. Syria is overpowered. Various islands throughout Europe (Crete, Malta, Channel Islands, Norse islands, etc.) are either underrepresented or missing entirely. The France-German border is inaccurate. The Finland-Soviet border is atrocious. And I haven’t even mentioned the slew of inaccuracies regarding the China/Japan region.

Case in point, there are map issues and historical inaccuracies throughout the game that have gone unaddressed for years, because (I think) Bytro is too busy working on ways to maximize profit and develop potential cash cows.

Yes, tons of inaccuracies.

But... Bytro doesn’t care. Too busy counting their money.
