Resources Reforged - Test it now on Beta!

We will be making important changes to the resource system in an upcoming update. Two resources - Goods and Rare Materials - will be removed from the game. These resources, previously acquired by conquering provinces, will no longer be part of your war economy.

With fewer resources available, competition over the remaining three - Fuel, Food, and Steel - will become more intense, leading to heightened conflict and more meaningful economic choices. By making resources scarcer and more valuable, we give you a deeper, more rewarding strategic experience.

As this shakes up the very fundamentals of Call of War, we want to give our loyal Frontline Pioneers plenty of time to test this update. This is why we have already made the changes available in newly created beta games.

So start up a new beta map, and send us your feedback in our Discord server. This is your opportunity to influence how we iterate on the change before it hits the live servers for all players to enjoy!

With the removal of Goods and Rare Materials, we’ve given all maps a shake-up by redistributing the remaining resources. Discover exciting new opportunities to expand your economic might. We’ve introduced two new setups for rural production: a 4-1-1 layout, where one resource is more plentiful than the others, and a balanced 2-2-2 layout, where all resources are equally available!

To maintain overall cost balance, we also had another look at production costs. We used this opportunity to change the resource needs for different unit types. Before, similar units all used the same resources, but now there’s a lot more variety!

For example, now Interceptors mainly need Food, Tactical Bombers rely on Oil, and Strategic Bombers use a mix of everything. This adds a fun twist to your build orders and trading with allies - planning ahead just got a whole lot more rewarding for the discerning strategist!

We’re excited to see how you tackle these changes, and would love to hear your thoughts - make sure to share them with us right here or on our Discord.

Your Call of War Team!

You are the speed specialist and know practically everything and every solution, right?

You claimed that stacks of 1500 2000 HP were impossible in a map or speed map without golding.

I am now in a 4x speed running around with a 2k stack and setting up a 2nd one, while it is day 20 or so.

No gold involved.

So, once again: big stacks can simply be the result of better play and do not at all have to be the result of gold.

If you get a stack of high level MT + mech and support units you can easily pass 2000 hp. I can get a stack of 10 MT + 10 mech + 10 aa by day 20 without using gold.

What about air stacks? My main air stacks are usually north of 2000 HP by the late game.

Are you proud of this, or asking for help to play better?

?

What do you mean?

@vonlettowvorbeck said that it was impossible to create stacks of 2000 HP without using gold. I responded by providing examples of stacks I've built in my games that have exceeded 2000 HP without gold usage.

Explain why you think a 2000 HP stack of planes is a good thing.

I didn't write that, @Bandersnatch did

@z00mz00m

Navy stacks are also prone to get to very high HP numbers.

When the enemy is driven back, we have failed. When he is cut off, encircled and dispersed, we have succeeded.

Wrong!

Dissappointing, Komrade! Pay attention pls.

It was Undaunted who said it was impossible to create a stack of 2000HP without gold.

I said it was very well possible.

It is just a question of good production planning and upgrading whilst you make sure you have the resources.

I apologize, @Undaunted.

It was not you, but BladeFisher who claimed big stacks could only be bought with gold.

A few things I have noticed with the new resource shift, is that there are fewer options in the market, before the change I was usually able to trade enough resources around to maintain building and production, not anymore. and the balance between oil, food and steel seems to inevitably lead to oil shortages, Wasn't an uncommon problem in WW2 so maybe that is by design. All in all this game is starting to be pretty boring, keep up the good work developers.

I unfortunately have to agree.

There are less options to do stuff, less choices, less creativity required, less units interesting; all bc of the resource shift.

It was said the change has resulted in positives on the KPI's...

One just wonders what these KPI's are and who set the KPI's.

They used to, but does anyone at Bytro still play the game themselves?

In any case the resource shift did not improve the lag-situation either. I suspected that the shift might have had to do with that, but that clearly is not so.

The lag is often absolutely horrendous now, with sometimes waittimes of up to a minute. Imagine being in a battle you are micromanaging, bc it is your only chance of winning the battle...and then the lag kicks in... Well I don't have to imagine it, bc I have been in that situation now multiple times :(

The "Bytro is just trying to maximize profits" complaint is one of the most bizarre. Of course that's what they're trying to do, that's how companies work. If COW loses too much money they're just going to cease offering it.

You can disagree with whether the decisions they make are wise (which many people do for this particular change), and disagree as to whether they're being honest with the community about their rationale for making this change (they probably aren't), but the fact that their decisions are likely guided by profit motive is just the way these things work.

Companies in it for maximizing profit are generally shortlived.

Companies focussing on continuity (which indeed requires a profit too, but not maximizing it) are here to stay.

Hence, maximizing profits does not naturally enhance continuity and more often than not works against it.

The latter is the feeling one gets here.

When are the old goods and rare material resource booster cards being changed to a resource we can actually use?

I wonder why they changed the ads and gift timers, so its on a 24 hour instead of when you could claim them just after midnight. Is that intended?

If anything, it is again something unpleasant :(

Maybe the message in all these bad updates to almost anything to the players is; "Please leave COW" ...?

Ofc, with this new timer setting, they will save a pixel drop per week, hoping that some players will buy what they missed.

Thát will yield Bytro at least 1 or 2$/week extra! Never forget that even 1$ might be the start of another million...

Or, players will visit the site more often and these extra clicks yield another 1$/week.

You must have noticed that the game is continuoulsy being downgraded in search of more pennies from 'poor' players, instead of being improved, so that players would be willing to pay for quality.

LMAO

They still think this is a good idea?!?

Ah, but your question implies 'logic & reason' would be applied when thinking!

Nevertheless, when thinking of gathering Pennies (while being Pound-foolish), the above might simply not be the case...
