Italy joined out of opportunism, of course that never worked out the way Mussolini wanted.
Agreed. Although even they did intervene, they probably would've had a game with France to see who could surrender the most men.

I think Italy surrendered up to 300,00 at one point, of course France surrendered well over 1 million so we know who our winner is.

Hmm, that'll be hard to beat. When French surrender because they saw the enemy, you know they are going to be hard to beat in a game like that.

There's this Gif on the internet I'll see if I can find it, this is the picture. In the gif the cooker sizzles and spongebob yells "I surrender" I thought it was quite funny/fitting.

I'm pretty sure it's the german blitzkrieg against france because

1-in the report the spy said :reinforced forts at the border well it's the maginot line

2-also in the report:.take the enemy by surprise it's the attack by Belgium and Holland

3-.tank production is in full swing gives the production of the panzer series

4-deployment of troops the german trap

5-merciless Blitzkrieg the complete victory

6- in 1939 the anglo/frensh declaration of war in the 1st september 1939

it gives a 4 players map : Germany-GB-France-Italy

if Italy map is complete it will be great but if it's only half well it will disapoint me because it will be like the one in Supremacy 1914 without the Austro -Hungarian Empire

oh you just spoiled it

the invasion but the war started since 1939 but france was afraid of a 2nd WW now we now they were wrong
France wasnt afraid. At the time, everyone thought France had the best army. Especially the French themselves.

And it was France that declared war on Germany, not the other way around. Thats not the action of a country thats afraid.

Besides, France won WW1. What could go wrong this time?

What if I'm indoctrinated and actually fighting the good guys?

France didn't win ww1 on it's own, they nearly lost the war because of several mutinies over bad pay living conditions and commanders who sent them over the top just to get killed.

Left to their own devices, France would have lost WW1. Badly.

But I'm talking about French morale at the start of WW2. They weren't afraid of Germany, as mio123 sugegsted. On the contrary, they were fully convinced Germany would be afraid of them.

When France declared war, they didnt expect to really have to fight it. They expected the French declaration to be enough in itself, for Germany to withdraw their troops from Poland.

When the first Germans broke through the Maginot, the French generals started crying and complaining how they had lost. The French troops were in disarray and surrendered in droves. The French had a very good tank(the Char 1 bis) that the Germans had to run away from and use the FlaK 88 to kill it. The French could've won, they just decided not to.

French defeat stems from WW1, they believe the forest of Belgium is un-passable, the maginot was preparation for another trench warfare scenario, they have the best maybe even THE best tanks at that time but it was used for support of infantry not offence and flexibility like the blitz tactics which is fairly new at the time, in contemporary military thinking the French is ready for WW1 not WW2, much like the Americans during the Vietnam war using overwhelming production that they use during WW2 against dirty yet clever tactics of which Sun Tzu can be proud of.

At the time, France did have the best army. If France and Britain had had the guts to invade Germany in 1939, they would´ve completely beat the Germans.
The past is a foreign country.

they will never had the guts to attack Germany, they were the ones who established peace in Europe, breaking that peace that they established will be very bad and might antagonize Russia and the US, its real life not a game.

also they don't want another war, and starting one is out of the question

Har har har, why did they declare war so? TBH and in my opinion, the governments and generals were just a bunch of candy asses.

I know that but the had already declared war and after they said they were going to help Poland if it got invaded, they did nothing for a few months and then after that lost France.
