The headquarter proudly presents supply crates as a new source of secret blueprints and resources. These crates appear randomly in an enemy or neutral AI province (never in your allyβs country). You have to conquer the province in a certain amount of time to secure the crate. It can contain either resources or blueprints. These blueprints are a meta-feature relevant for all your active and future games. Collecting a certain amount of blueprints of the same type unlocks a new unit tech level which will be available to research in every game. The crates only appear in 22 players, 100 players and pacific maps. When you create a new game you can enable or disable the crate feature. For more information on crates please have a look at the manual.
The second change is about Victory Points. Before, these points were scaled according to the map size. That means, a province on a small map could have more VPs than a province on a bigger map. Now we abandoned the scaling process to have a fairer and more accurate distribution of VPs.
We hope you like the changes. Tell us your feedback in the forum.
Have fun playing!

Clearly, they would downgrade the larger maps to match the smaller maps in actual values. To do the other way around would make the smaller maps vastly more lucrative for the better players.
Actually, I've already noticed that some world map matches have not downgraded the VP's while others have. And in at least one that has downgraded the VP's in the World Herald, the map screen data and the province list both don't match the World Herald's assessment. In the world map matches that have not downgraded the VP's, the World Herald still reports the older values.

Thank You Diabolical for response your response and to that of Barrimann .. I could have started another thread singularity in purpose, but I was replying as you stated .. to all the new enhancements in the other nights update.
And I understand core v occupied .. I'll just have to get over it .. its still hard to see if not for dark borders between mine and occupied neighbors of other countries ... Your point of attacking a tan if I'm tan, I'm dealing with a lighter v darker purplish color, of a coalition partner .. and I still say its now harder to distinguish my occupied territories vs another of similar color. But as I said, I have to get over it. But the reason for doing so, a seasoned player should know that anyways, and what was his "CORE" provinces.

Ha, well I have a general idea of where my cores are but for many countries it was not super obvious as it is now. It's also very helpful to see where the enemy cores are. Greater contrast between some country colors would be nice but it's usually not very important. For me the pros of the striping update pretty far outweigh the cons. I think the striping was always supposed to be there but it was just bugged. You would see it sometimes.

Are these supply drops being added to all current running games?

No, the crates will only appear in newly created games.
And by the way, they are active again and hopefully working this time!

Newly created games. Created since the first announcement about crates? Or, created since the 'fix' was implemented?

I would say since the fix was implemented.

So far everything seems fine regarding the research level and the crates. Except one thing....
The secret branch - will it get some love? Yes, I am looking at Railguns, Commandos and rocket fighters in particular.

Elite RINT would be awesome. Extra range due to drop tanks? I don't know.

Yes, it's an absolute shame that commandos are having a single research slot only. It's such an excellent unit but it's far stretched production time (even with lvl5 IC and lvl2 baracks) makes it forgettable. New research slots could increase strength on forest by say 25%, could be faster on land and water along with the usual damage increase.
On the update, love the fact that snap is now working on water but a bit of a disappointment on the new morale map (spending almost the entire game on the morale map). Since the update, terrain types can be barely seen. Really don't like to see a pink coloured map when planning a move
As much as I love Commandos (and I try to build them -- one at a time -- constantly, over the course of a match), I don't think the devs will want to modify them. They are a fairly early unit that is unusually powerful (given their research availability) when employed correctly.
Their strength already reflects the improved abilities they have as specialists in all terrains while having built-in super bonuses in certain special situations (mountains and urban). The fact that you can only build one at a time and only at your capital reflects on the fact that they are already special enough and powerful enough. To bump up their abilities sounds fun, but then you are basically making a superman unit that is nearly impervious to other troops.
Is that what you really want...the Nazi's "super zombie soldier" research project?
On the other hand, I would like to see the build limitation be adjusted. If we are going to add a new feature for the Commandos, I would say create a new special training facility for building Commandos outside of the capital. This building would necessarily need to be very expensive either in construction or else in maintenance to reflect the high cost of building more Commandos.

There is no notification when a crate is captured? or of the contents?
A simple message, such as:
"Crate captured in Durango, contents: 342 metal"
would be sufficient.

Yeah, quite true.

Here's a question...will the AI nations have access to crate research? Or, if a human player had them, then abandons his nation, will the AI be able to build the crate-level stuff in his/her absence?

They do. In one of my games an AI has lvl 6 or 7 or whatever AA.
