Server Rollbacks and Compensation - Planned Maintenance

I was wondering. Is it not possible to "pause" the game for the devs?

That way they could just pause the games before maintenance and no risk of anyone being invaded while unable to login or something like that.

I have no idea if it is possible.

And what about people planning invasions for this time period? (hoping that their server will go offline) ?

When will we be refunded our money?

While everyone affected by rolled back maps appreciates the gesture of a gold refund if they get it, the thought that our games are not backed up on a daily basis is disturbing. Or, maybe they are and that data just could not be retrieved?

The biggest issue is the amount of TIME/energy lost for all players, regardless if they spent gold or not. Any map that was past day 40 and had a week of effort wiped out may discourage some players that are fearful it could happen again. Sooner or later the devs/servers have to start pausing/freezing COW during downtime/maintenance.

To be honest the gold doesnt help, many of us spent a lot of time in that game, and many are back

I wiped a nation of Italy with over 350 provinces, he had lost but then the servers re rolled, and he back at full strength

Me pay for the game not to play for a short period but 24h.

If i want to pay i have to be assuerd that your service 24 is stable and gives me possibilitties.

Me say if i do not pay when your game crashes and gives someold savegames*; everyone crashes, still not everyone gets anything?

We all like the game. And i guees the owners have a lot of money to secure uptime. Why pay when they are not giving back. I have only played 3 weeks now, but there has been a lot of server crash. Pay and fix the game owners! It is not only a game, its the best online game! Game offline now for me: "

Game is offline.... again. Frustrating .... to pay and it crashes.

I have 4 active games, but all 4 are down. If only 25% of servers are down, I'm surprised all 4 are down. 3 are 100 player games, 1 is a standard game. I'm wondering if more than 25% of servers are down or just bad luck?

These outages are getting quite numerous and impactful; I'm starting to question the ongoing utility of playing this game.

Is the business model sustainable? Are there funding issues, leading to staffing issues, resulting in technology issues? Is it a more simple explanation: staff technical skills, bad luck, vendor problems, hosting provider issues/model, etc.?

Also, is depending on a host of volunteer admins a typical and sustainable game/business model? Are the volunteers actions causing any of the technical issues?

Any insights would be appreciated; I'm not making judgments, merely seeking to understand.

The 25% server maintenance was scheduled for yesterday so today's problems are new and unexpected.

It should exist and have spent considerable $ in.

Why do I have to re-fresh my game 20 times just to get it to load up? This is every time I try to load it up. And, is the game down now? 8:48am 01/08/2016
