Attention General!

We have exciting news today! The popular 'World at War' map is now permanently available in a new version for you! The new '[Speed] World at War' map comes with a speed factor of 4x and allows for up to 56 in-game days of intense fights between up to 100 players!

Join the new [Speed] World at War now!

Parallel to the new [Speed] World at War map, several improvements and bug fixes were implemented with today's update as well. Game panels now inform if a map has a higher speed factor and the stop button also cancels Convert, and Upgrade orders!

Furthermore, the inventory system, which is currently available to a limited number of players on mobile devices, is now also available to these players when playing the game on desktop.

The list of bugs that were removed with this update is long in general. Armies that don't trigger war when moved to a neutral province center, rockets that return mid-flight when an airfield was destroyed or the chat becoming transparent every time it gets updated are just a very few highlights of the full list.

For a complete overview of all changes, please grab something to drink and check our detailed list of updates and share your feedback with us here on the forums and on our Discord server.

Best of luck General,

Your Bytro Team

I think the release created a new bug:

When a unit is upgrading, it is no longer possible to set a route for when the upgrade will be finished. Instead, the client now asks the user if the upgrade should be cancelled, and if you answer you want to continue it, no new route is set.

When the enemy is driven back, we have failed. When he is cut off, encircled and dispersed, we have succeeded.

Chiming in to agree with the above. I set routes for upgrading units all the time, especially when I'm upgrading before going to bed and want them to be positioned by the time I wake up. Hopefully you all find a way to allow that.

Otherwise great updates, thanks as always.

Are you gonna play the whole game without sleeping, do you take 10 power naps a day or do you have the whole family playing this? There's no way i can play 4* speed.

Agree with the *4 never play

Why the hell did you allow upgrades to stop man

you ruined my strategy

Is it true that upgrades can now be cancelled?

A pretty mechanical toy [...] the war will never be won by such machines.
— Lord Kitchener, on tanks

I don't recall anyone asking for upgrades to be cancellable.

This is solving a problem nobody had, while removing a feature many of us use.

Agreed :protest:

They did indeed.

I fixed the link.

I will look into this one.

Edit:

If you drag the unit this is intended. Similar to when you drag a moving unit, it cancels the current movement order and replaces it with the new point of destination. The add target command should work though.

Add Target indeed works to give move commands to upgrading units.

There are some edge cases which are not possible to do anymore with this, the team will discuss this issue again and may do adjustments in future updates.

When I "add target", then change my mind and want to send the unit elsewhere, I cannot "remove target".

I have to start a new move order.

But if I do that, it will cancel the upgrade.

That is one of the known problematic edge cases that I mentioned :D So either we will solve this or revert the change partly.

On mobile I just selected a bunch of different stacks, hoping to move them all to the same point. I didn't realize that one of the stacks I'd selected was upgrading. The pop-up came, I remembered this issue, and I canceled the move order... except my stack stopped upgrading anyways and is now "idle" despite displaying the canceled move orders. What the hell.

Yeah, no... treating an upgrade as a starting move order, bad idea.

Cancel the upgrade, start it again, then select the place you want the army to move (after it finishes upgrading) with Add Waypoint.

Works for me.

When you cancel the upgrade, it says very clearly, "all resources are lost". You don't want to do that.

Hehehe, good catch.

Do the product managers play the game? It feels like these ideas are coming from people who don't really understand how the game works.

Yea. I don't hate the idea of being able to cancel an upgrade, even if it requires forfeiting all the invest resources. Sometimes you screw up and the enemy is way closer than you thought and you don't want to be a sitting duck. However, this happens, like... once every 10 games? Maybe? Meanwhile, starting an upgrade and wanting your units to move afterwards is probably something I do 20+ times each game, maybe more. They've solved a really minor problem but have negatively impacted a much more common mechanic.
