Update on Server Stability

Over the past few weeks, you may have noticed periods of unavailability or instability in Supremacy 1914, Supremacy: Call of War 1942, and Supremacy: World War III. These issues have largely been the result of external attempts to disrupt our services.

We know how frustrating this can be, especially when you're in the middle of critical battles, and we want to sincerely thank you for your patience and support.

Your Data is Safe

We want to reassure all players that your account, game progress, and personal information have remained completely secure throughout these recent disruptions.

The recent disruptions were the result of external attempts to overload our servers, not breaches of security. While these attacks can cause instability in the game, they do not grant access to user accounts, personal information, or payment systems.

What We’re Doing

We want to assure our community that we are taking important steps to improve the reliability and resilience of our systems. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing a secure and stable experience, we are enhancing our infrastructure to better handle disruptive events, including attempts to overwhelm our services.

While we won’t be sharing specific technical details for security reasons, we want to assure you that we are implementing targeted infrastructure upgrades that we believe will have a significant and lasting impact on overall stability.

We are confident that these improvements will greatly reduce the likelihood and impact of future disruptions, and we are fully committed to continuing this work over the next couple of weeks and beyond to restore the smooth, reliable experience you expect.

Supporting You

We are also reviewing internal processes and player-facing policies to make sure that no one is unfairly impacted by connectivity issues. If you experience ongoing problems, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team.

Looking Ahead

This is part of our broader effort to future-proof the platform. You can expect further stability improvements over the coming weeks, and we will keep you informed as we make progress.

Thank you for standing with us. Your passion and commitment fuel our work every day.

Stay strong on the battlefield,

The Twin Harbour Interactive Team

The servers are being hacked...

Or attacked...

What sort of security lets this many disruptions through?

They are not hacked. They are spammed with requests, basically a ddos attack. Nothing is "let through" in the sense how you are suggesting, there is no security breach.

To explain it in very simple terms, imagine some bot net is loading the CoW website 1000000 times in a given moment, and does this over and over again. The server has to answer such requests, otherwise legit players would not get the website loaded when they visit it. But if the server has to answer too many requests, it gets overloaded because it gets more requests than it can serve (you have seen this happening).

So the trick is to filter out the "bad requests" from the "good requests", so that only legit players (who want to access the site at the same time as such attacks are happening) get the data to load the game. Unfortunately, those bad actors know about counter measures as well, and adjust their approach to circumvent them, so it is a constant back and forth until the attacker gets bored of it or the counter measures are so high that it becomes too expensive for the attacker to keep going. Of course it also has a cost for the company, which is the main reason why the attacker attacks in the first place. They want to disrupt our servers to cause monetary losses by a) forcing us to work on counter measures and b) ruining the fun of our players so that they get frustrated and leave (or stop paying).

Thanks for clarifying
