A.A.R.
I had the idea to do some AAR's for some of the more interesting battles.
On January 14th, 1:52 AM, the war of Corrente began. Troops from Sao Paulo opened fire on Maranhaoan positions. To annex Maranhao would make all of South America in control of a single alliance. However GreatbigHippo underestimated Maranhaoan soldiers, and in just one day of fighting, Almost 100,000 soldiers died. In an effort to outflank the enemy, the 11th infantry regiment, consisting of 4,500 soldiers, marched towards Canto de Buriti. As the 11th infantry marched towards the city, enemy artillery began bombarding the troops. Despite heavy losses, they were ordered to continue. By the time they were half way to the city, many of them were dead. A short time later, a Maranhaoan infantry brigade intercepted the 11th infantry. A long, bloody battle ensued that would last several hours. Against all odds, the 11th infantry, under heavy artillery bombardment, won the battle. The 11th infantry did not have the numbers to finish their mission, and they were ordered to retreat. By the time they were out of range of the enemy artillery, just 105 soldiers were still alive. The 11th infantry will forever be hailed as heroes in their homeland.
