Backstory to 100-Player Map

Hello! I thought it might be important to have a little story discussing how the world got to where it is for the 100-Player map. This begins in 2015 and ends in 2115. It is not realistic or meant to offend anyone. I think I covered everything but if not let me know. Thanks for reading!

December 2015, following global outrage from the attacks on Paris, the Islamic State is defeated once and for all. Following this, Iraq and Syria start gaining power, taking over Kuwait, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, and staging a successful coup in Iran, installing a loyal Persian government. But the defeat of ISIS cost the governments of the world a great deal of money. Economies all over the world go downhill within a year. By 2017, it is as bad as the 1929 Great Depression. The UN breaks up because of the associated costs with running it.

In 2021, Serbia, Germany, and Spain make an alliance in order to become more rich and leave the EU; Spain goes to war with Morocco and establishes Rio de Oro and takes back Spanish Moroccan land. Next, Germany goes to war with Poland and takes 'rightful land'. Finally, Serbia attacks their former Yugoslav brothers and defeats them all within two years, even with the UK's support. In the UK, their failure to keep the Depression down and their defeat in Yugoslavia drives many overseas colonies and islands to declare independence from the UK. Now that the Falklands Islands were out of British hands, Argentina attempted to attack the micro-country but failed to even land troops on the islands. Therefore, a civil war breaks out in Argentina and it splits into North and South Argentina. The rebellion spreads over into Brazil, and for the next 15 years foreign policies in South America were almost entirely about who would win the Brazilian Civil War.

Eventually, the United States got involved in Brazil and creates ten new countries, establishing a democracy in all of them. But all but one- Maranhāo- falls to Communism by the end of 2040. The United States was again becoming a manufacturing superpower, not relying on China anymore. China, in return, declares war on South Korea, the US's ally, and invades with North Korea. The USA retaliates by embargoing China and declaring war on North Korea. Canada and all of the Brazilian countries do as well, along with some select European and African countries. Japan aides the USA by allowing them to station troops in Japan. 5 million Chinese troops amass in Korea and coastal Chinese cities, while the other troops are stationed near the border with the USA's new ally, India. But 11 million American soldiers land in Korea successfully and another 2 million in Shanghai. The USA bribes India to enter the war, and India's powerful military quickly erases most Chinese presence in the area. Pyongyang and Beijing fall within the same month, and China and North Korea surrender. As punishment, China must break into many smaller states and give Tibet its long-awaited independence. But Canada suffered devastating rocket attacks from China and North Korea during the war, with 6,000 landing on Canadian soil and only 1,500 landing on American soil. Canada breaks up into 9 separate countries.

And due to the US becoming a manufacturing power, civil wars break out in Indonesia. Borneo and Sumatra break away as their own countries, and Papua New Guinea captures the remaining half of their island.

The year is 2050, and Africa is in turmoil. Benin, Togo, Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast have all unified to form Upper Volta, and with Gabon invading Congo and the Central African Republic along with countless civil wars, there is no hope for peace on the continent. However, the Great 2017 Depression has finally ended with Russia's war with Finland, Poland, Belarus, Georgia, the United States, Japan, and Caucasian nationalists. India surprisingly turned on its allies and joined Russia in the war, as did Mexico, Guyan, French Guyana, and Suriname. Australia and New Zealand join the USA, the Allies, while Russia's allies are called the Global Powers. Allied forces land in Guyan, quickly seizing the small Global Power countries there. Indian forces land in Australia but are beaten back to one coastal town, Onslow. New Zealand reinforcements arrive, and ANZAC is formed once more. American and Japanese forces land in Sakhalin and the Kuriles, along with a major landing in Kamchatka. Finland takes Murmansk and peaces out with Russia, gaining Karelia and Murmansk. Indian forces are completely driven out of Australia, and Allied forces launch a counterattack with their new ally, Pakistan, landing in Ceylon and Kochi on the southern Indian coast. Allied forces are halfway through Siberia when Russia capitulates, for Belarus and Poland have just captured Moscow. This is an interesting turn of events– Poland went from being a slacking economic power to a military superpower– it had been ruled for 15 years by a military dictatorship under the Communist Party following a brief civil war. Allied forces finally turn to Mexico, which surrenders just two months after the Allies first offensive across the Rio Grande. All this was achieved in 11 years, making it the longest World War ever. (Well, there were only three, so... heheh...) Russia breaks up, forming 15 new countries and ceding land to a few others. Poland and Belarus form a union, as do the Baltic States under the name Lithuania.

Australia suddenly erupts into domestic conflict, breaking up April 10th, 2069. (100 years after my dad was born!) India, faced with economic corruption since its part in WW3, breaks up into four smaller countries. Guatemala invades its Central American neighbours in 2078 and quickly takes a decisive victory. Botswana and Zimbabwe form a union known as Beunchuanaland. Bahrain, Qatar, and the U.A.E. are invaded by Yemeni and Omani forces in 2086. But Oman fires on its Yemeni allies and takes over Yemen as well. Hejaz breaks off from Saudi Arabia in 2089 without any resistance from Saudi forces. The next 10 years were relatively peaceful other than a few civil wars in Africa and South America and Mexico. But this was broken at the turn of the century, in 2099, when Cuban forces landed in Jamaica, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. This sparked a hatred towards the Caribbean in the USA, for Puerto Rico was still administrated by US forces. The United States declared war on Caribbean September 11th, 2101, but this time, they had no allies.

The entire world thought that the USA was too powerful. The entire world except for 23 countries declared war on the United States, which was dumbfounded. World War 4 had begun. But the USA held on until 2114, when British and Caribbean forces reached Washington, D.C., and seized it. The United States broke up into 13 new countries on December 31st, 2114. On the 1st of January, 2115, the player is able to take over the countries' fate and control it either to world domination or defeat.

YEAH! SPAIN RULES!
The past is a foreign country.

LOL

And due to the US becoming a manufacturing power, civil wars break out in Indonesia. Borneo and Sumatra (and that other country I can't recall the name of) break away as their own countries, and Papua New Guinea captures the remaining half of their island.

Thank you, I forgot about this.

I added it in.

Interesting idea,I would like to see this map.

"I came, I saw, I conquered" Written in a report to Rome 47 B.C., after conquering Pharnaces at Zela in Asia Minor in just five days; as quoted in Life of Caesar by Plutarch; reported to have been inscribed on one of the decorated wagons in the Pontic triumph, in Lives of the Twelve Caesars, Julius, by Suetonius.
"Alea iacta est" Gaius Julius Caesar.

I have decided to make a separate backstory to the 22-Player map.
