Best Prime Minister of the UK?
Who do you think is the best PM ever of the UK? I'd say Churchill. I'll add PMs to the poll as people say them.

If Socialists understood Economics, they wouldn't be socialists

Sure, but most politicians are good speakers, and (obviously) Hitler was much better.oceanhawk wrote:

Chamberlain, quite frankly, was a coward. So was Stanley Baldwin. If the UK and France had attacked Germany when it took the Rhineland, it would have beaten them with very few casualties. And it still would have been a walk in the park as late as November 1938.
You misspelled May 1940.Pablo22510 wrote:

No, I didn't. May 1940 could have seen the defeat of Germany, but it would not have been a walk in the park.Quasi-duck wrote:

Lol, nice joke, but it would not have been easy. I mean, barely a month later, the French Army, the biggest of Europe, was defeated.Ellio_98 wrote:

Well, if they did it right, it would've been. We should all know that the Matilda II and Char 1 bis. needed the German 88 FlaK to penetrate them, use these properly, with fighter cover, and you could be set. With French P-40's and British Hurricanes, this could've gone well.Pablo22510 wrote:

Even better if it hits attrition on mainland Europe. If there is one thing the French army can do, it is dig a trench and sit in it for four years.
Yes, due to poor French planning, French cowardice, and refusal of the Lowlands to let British and French troops in.Pablo22510 wrote:

But its the french, they dont have 12 gears in reverse for nothing. Jokes aside the UK could not of won in 1940 alone. British troops were quite outnumbered. But in 1938 thats a different story, could of been done with the help of France under British commandPablo22510 wrote:

Yes, but let's not forget that the British and French generals were very incompetent. The Germans also had Panzer IIIs and IVs, which were pretty good. And a good air force. And, at that time, a good surface navy.Quasi-duck wrote:

Which is exactly what I'm saying.Ellio_98 wrote:

Lol, it was the French that were incompetent, the Brits did good. At one point, with Matilda II's, the Brits pushed back German forces. Also, Dunkirk.Pablo22510 wrote:

Lol, neither could penetrate the Char 1 bis. or the Matilda II, they didn't actually have all that much, they had few recovery vehicles, and the Pz. IV still had a short barrel and was meant for infantry support and as mobile artillery.Pablo22510 wrote:

Granted, but the French and British could kinda hold their own. All they needed was to properly work together.Pablo22510 wrote:

Lol, true, but this is against the British and French navies, who both have carriers, and two of the best navies in the world at the time. And, let's face it, all the German navy was really good with was PT boats, which they never had enough of, and subs, which were the same story.Pablo22510 wrote:

Sorry, the British part slipped in. But still, since the majority of the combat troops were French, it is a big part.Quasi-duck wrote:

But still pretty good tanks, and fast.Quasi-duck wrote:

Yeah, but the German surface navy demonstrated that it could compete against its much larger counterparts. Many German pocket battleships and cruisers raided convoys in the Atlantic, and Operation WeserΓΌbung was a success for the German surface fleet.Quasi-duck wrote:

Get the British to send in a "Not One Step Back" order and give them all Matilda II's and MG'sPablo22510 wrote:

Mediocre at best. They were not the majority either.Pablo22510 wrote:

Pablo, you should know fine well that the fleet with the most carriers would win in WWII. And Germany had none.Pablo22510 wrote:

They could hardly do that. Democracies don't do that.Quasi-duck wrote:

Ik, but they could put up a fight.Quasi-duck wrote:

Let's end this, too tired. Off to play HoI4.
It was a joke.Pablo22510 wrote:

No, the Pz. IV F2 and later models were "good" (they were mediocre at best, they didn't even have sloped armour). The F1 and earlier models had short 75's which sucked.Pablo22510 wrote:

Lol.Pablo22510 wrote:

Doesn't mean they would win, which they wouldn't.Pablo22510 wrote:

Ok. Ended.
Yes.
