"White Christmas," written by Irving Berlin, was recorded by singer Bing Crosby in 1942, and became a particular favorite of American troops serving overseas during 1942 to 1945. To date, it remains the most popular single record ever recorded, with over 50 million copies sold. The song was written by an American Jew of German background, sung by an Irish-American Catholic, and it remains one of the most popular English language Christmas songs.

Stille Nacht ("Silent Night"), written by Austrian school teacher and church organist Franz Xaver Gruber in 1818, remains among the most popular Christmas carols in multiple languages throughout the Christian world almost 200 years after it was first performed.

And then there is the story of the 1914 Christmas Truce on the Western front ----

If you don't know the history, I suggest you google it.

There is even a record of British and German soldiers played a pick-up soccer (football for you Europeans) game in no man's land on Christmas day.

Now Call of War needs soldiers like these

King Joao IV's "Adeste Fidelis," performed by Enya:

Mark Lowry and Buddy Greene's "Mary, did you know?" performed by Pentatonix:

Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," reformed by Jeff Buckley:

"Eternal Father, Strong to Save," The Navy Hymn of the Royal Navy and U.S. Navy, and a traditional hymn of the Commonwealth navies:
