It was an attack helicopter.
The past is a foreign country.

Damn, that thing is basically all grenade launchers and machine guns, with some cannons.

This is the Mi-24 though.

Internal guns

  • flexible 12.7 mm Yakushev-Borzov Yak-B Gatling gun on most variants. Maximum of 1,470 rounds of ammunition.
  • fixed twin-barrel GSh-30K on the Mi-24P. 750 rounds of ammunition.
  • flexible twin-barrel Gryazev-Shipunov GSh-23L on the Mi-24VP and Mi-24VM. 450 rounds of ammunition.
  • PKB passenger compartment window mounted machine guns
External stores

  • Total payload is 1,500 kg of external stores.
  • Inner hardpoints can carry at least 500 kg
  • Outer hardpoints can carry up to 250 kg
  • Wing-tip pylons can only carry the 9M17 Phalanga (in the Mi-24A-D) or the 9K114 Shturm complex (in the Mi-24V-F).
Bomb-load

  • Bombs within weight range (presumably ZAB, FAB, RBK, ODAB etc.), Up to 500 kg.
  • MBD multiple ejector racks (presumably MBD-4 with 4 × FAB-100)
  • KGMU2V submunition/mine dispenser pods
First-generation armament (standard production Mi-24D)

Second-generation armament (Mi-24V, Mi-24P and most upgraded Mi-24D)

  • UPK-23-250 gunpod carrying the GSh-23L
  • B-8V20 a lightweight long tubed helicopter version of the S-8 rocket launcher
  • 9K114 Shturm in pairs on the outer and wingtip pylons

It might outmanouevre a ACh-47, but it sure as hell cannot outgun it.

You sure? The 47 seems to mainly have 762 and .50 guns. The Hind is armoured, so they probably wouldn't do much.

Compare the 47 to the 24. The 24 is bristling with rockets, machine guns, cannons, and missiles. Some of these are guided. One of them is 240mm frag rocket.

The ACH-47 had rockets too :D

Lol, I know. Are they guided though?

Doubt it.

Some of the ones on the Hind are. Man, the Hind is so bad ass. I'm pretty sure that if there was an AK-47 present in a war the Hind was there too.

The ACH-47, although possibly worse than the Hind, is badasser than the Hind.
The past is a foreign country.

Nah, the Hind is horrifying. I mean, can you imagine all that MG, cannon, missile, and rocket fire coming in then, you have 8 elite Spetsnaz troops fast roping in on you?

Even worse, a group of these!

Not really, its a cargo heli with a few Machine guns and a grenade launcher on the back. It isnt really that impressive, but all Chinooks and Seaknights are cool.

Either way, in the space of attack helis, my list up there is the best..

Apache

Viper

Ka-52

they are the top 3, no debate

Imagine a huge heli coming at you with rockets, gatlings, machine guns, etc. Plus carrying 20 soldiers inside.

The past is a foreign country.

1 Spetsnaz can take as much beating as a Russian t-90

Are you sure it is a full 20? All that extra gear may make it so that it has to carry less troops.
