Heyo! @whowh @K.Rokossovski @Karl von Krass you all know what this is about from the thread Fiction. The rest of you... do what you like.
The Titanic War- 1914~1918
The Titanic War was the result of intense military, economic and ideological rivalry between the great powers of the Westland. The deterioration of relations began in 1903, with the disastrous War of the Noran Recreation. The Pegronian Union developed unprecedented hate for the Norans, and the Westland was shocked by the Creation of the Red Union in 1904, mirroring the Noran Union. Its ideology was unacceptable by the Armstris and Pegronians, and both nations interests were threatened by its creation. Both had hoped to grab swathes of land in the destabilisation following the War of the Noran Recreation, but instead were slapped in the face with the creation of a great power.
Relations continued to go south in the next years. The URI won an astounding victory in the War of 1904, giving it absolute control over the surrounding region. The Nation also became communist like the Red Union, and allied itself with the Red Union. A naval arms race began between the Armstris Empire and Red Union, which made a naval conflict virtually inevitable. In 1910, the slow annexation of the Blacklands by the Armstris saw Lesotho join the Noran/Inamortan Alliance. Beeth and Anglia, while both puppets of the Armstris, had populations extremely anti-Armstris, the same applied to Azernia.
The West Pact or Entente Pact, formed between Mesra, Pegronian Union, Dora and the Armstris Empire was very fractured. By 1912, both Dora and Mesra had virtually left the pact, and the Pegronians and Armstris only remained allies due to a common enemy. In 1913, Dora virtually dismantled its armed forces, making its entry into a war impossible. Meanwhile the URI created the West League, a formal and strong alliance between its puppets, itself, the Red Union and Lesotho.
The final straw that sparked the Titanic War began with the Blacklands Uprisings. Beeth, Anglia, Azernia all revolted against the Armstris. This was a great insult to the nation, Fu Hong having said centuries before that “Our flawless Empire does these nations a great favour by not fully occupying them and wiping out their populace.” Anglia, Beeth and Azernia were all fully occupied, and somewhat following Fu Hong’s words, the Azernian Genocide began. Following these events, Lesotho and the URI ordered partial mobilisation, encouraged by the Red Union. The tensions became unbearable, and hell broke loose when the Inamortans entered some military assets into Azernia to “save the populace from extermination.”
This action was due to bolstering Inamortan confidence, and was meant to start a war. The Red Union assured them that it would join in any war, and the Inamortans saw their chance upon Dora’s demilitarization. So the act was simply an excuse to spark a war and not be blamed, so as to stop international intervention. The resulting war was unprecedented in the carnage it caused and destabilised the world.
| “First Line” trench, filled with Inamortan men. |
The Armstris Empire declared war upon the URI February 3rd, the Red Union on the 5th and all of the URI’s puppets on the 6th, Lesotho on the 8th. The Red Union declared war on the Armstris Empire on the 5th and the Pegronian Union on the 6th. The Titanic War had begun, and it would become one of the greatest conflicts of the 20th century.
Technology of war in 1914
The planning and conduct of war in 1914 were crucially influenced by the invention of new weapons and the improvement of existing types since the past wars. The chief developments of the intervening period had been the Self-Propelled Artillery and the Rapid Fire Rocket Artillery, as well as the Devastators. The Red Union was the inventor of the RF Rocket Artillery, but it had infant versions only, for example the H.3. Meanwhile the Armstris Empire possessed the greatest Devastator Fleet, 300 Emperor Class Devastators. The Armstris were also the only nation to produce SP Artillery, a new kind of mechanized artillery that “rained death upon tanks”. These technologies would be prime factors in the outcome of the war.
The Initial Stages of the War
Initial strategies
The Ember Plan
The Ember Plan was the initial Inamortan plan for a lightning victory over the Armstris First Colonies. General Richton Ember oversaw the planning in the months leading up to the war. The attack was to compromise of 25 infantry divisions (250,000 men), 10 armoured divisions (3,000 tanks and armoured cars), 500 Artillery pieces and 800 planes. The Inamortan forces would sweep south and wipe out the weak Armstris Garrison in Free Azernia, and then dismantle her ownership of Occupied Azernia. The Plan’s failure would not matter, since if the offensive was stopped or pushed back, the Inamortans were not in danger due to the buffer space provided by their puppets the Eastern Alliance and Tropia.
However, the war came sooner than expected and only 12 infantry divisions were available. The Inamortan generals panicked, not wanting to fight advanced Armstris equipment that would arrive to reinforce the enemy soon, and so launched a badly coordinated offensive all the same. The result was disastrous. 7 infantry divisions were cut off and encircled, 5 others were decimated. It was a major Armstris victory in the first few months of the war. Despite this, the Armstris could not seize the initiative. Not enough resources or manpower was available, and so they settled in for defence.
The Strategy of the Pegronian Front
When war broke out, the Pegronians were increasingly nervous. Their naval prowess was completely unhinged, and their air force was inferior. Their only condolence was the fact that they were an island, therefore harder to attack. In fact, the Pegronian Union was caught completely off guard. It had actually began considering leaving the Western Pact, and somehow missed the hints of war. Luckily for the Pegronians, the Norans did not know this.
Nora had had its heart torn out by the Pegronian Union many times before in history. Therefore, the Red Union had an irrational fear of the Pegronians. In reality, a quick Noran assault would have decimated the Union. But due to overestimation, the Pegronians managed to pull together. Each side on the front had different strategies:
The Pegronian Plan One
Plan One outlined an invasion of the Red Union. However, it was different to the other Pegronian invasions. Instead of attempting to punch through a wide eastern front with Nora, it would focus on poorly defended Wintonia. Over 130 divisions were to land there, with the Union putting all its hopes on this offensive. The date was set for 1915 April 22nd, and the Pegronian high command believed the URI would be neutralised by then, securing his invasion force’s western/southern flank.
The Red Union Red Fortress
Whilst Pegronia planned an offensive, the Norans were focused on the defensive. Red Fortress had begun with the Iron City in 1909, and was now a formidable line of Fortress Cities and defensive positions along the coast. The navy was also ordered to be vigilant and remain in port. However, Wintonia was ignored just as the Pegronians hoped, and it housed virtually no Red Union troops or defensive structures, except the weak Wintonia Republic National Guard, a small force of 35,000 ill-equipped men. The coast near Norso was also significantly reinforced, but there some plans were laid for an offensive.

Operation Kraken A
Operation Kraken A was the plan to seize the island of Deval, the closest point of the Grand Sea Route to Nora.
The Operation consisted of 75,000 Red Army men, and 30,000 of the RRS (Red Revolution Service), 2,700 ships of the Red Navy (including the Battleship Purity), 800 vehicles and about 150 planes. The Operation was launched on May 4th, 1:05 AM.
In Deval, a garrison of 65,000 men was available, as well as around 50 planes, 100 artillery guns, and 13 ships. However, there were multiple forts, batteries and fortification lines across the island, which were thought to make occupation impossible. The local garrison was shocked when on the 4th, 150 planes obliterated Deval Port, all of its ships and the airstrip, as well as Fort Frost-I and Fort Frost-II. Landings S and N were made successfully, but Landing N was stopped at Fort Despair. The fort was undermanned and had little ammunition, so it was sieged whilst the advance continued as planned. However, S was experiencing major issues. The Deval Line D was not in disrepair, as intelligence had reported. The Norans were unable to break through.
Meanwhile Landing B suffered huge casualties, of its 15,000 men seven thousand died attempting to follow the plan. Eventually they were evacuated by the Red Navy and sent to assist S. But this posed a problem. The line of forts and batteries overlooking the island’s main defences was still operational, and so no major naval bombardment could be made to help Landing A, which had so far suffered 3,000 casualties.
Landing C fared the best. Its 10,000 men joined up with N and dismantled the north of the Deval Line B. However, rather than move south and take the airport, the 10,000 united with N’s 17,000 to aide S. The result was satisfactory, Deval Line D and C were both destroyed and the centre of the island was now in Noran hands.
Due to the way things were going, the original plan was scrapped. Instead N and S would push to unite with A, while the Navy and Air Force disabled the “Line of Forts” at all cost to be able to help inland. C was to occupy Fort Despair, quash all small pockets of unoccupied territory, and push toward the air strip and port.
On May 6th, the front had entered a stalemate. The Norans had made further progress, but the “Line of Forts” and the island’s main defences still stood. The Port Line and Deval Line A also held firm. By now, Armstris High Command had heard of Kraken, and reinforcements would arrive as soon as the 8th. This is the state of the Front on the 6th:
With reinforcements just two days away, the Red Navy pounded the Line of Forts and Deval Line E, and Noran soldiers charged forward in desperate attempts to take control. The Armstris were running out of men, and more importantly, ammunition, so with this assault came significant progress, and this was the situation at 8:00 PM on the 7th:

Despite such significant progress, 63,000 Norans lay dead. All vehicles were lost, 80 planes downed, 36 ships sunk. The Armstris had lost only 50,000 men, almost no vehicles and no planes, 13 ships. Even worse, the Norans now faced the possibility of losing the island too, when at around 5:00 AM on the 8th Armstris reinforcements came in the form of the 12th Fleet (1,500 ships, including the carrier Bung and Battleship Urashima.), 24,000 men, 600 vehicles and 167 planes. The Noran High Command ordered the island to be taken at all cost before the “enemy could grow fangs”. So as the reinforcements were landing or nearing the coast, a desperate Noran army sent suicide tank/truck drivers at the enemy. Each vehicle was packed with explosives and followed by a fanatical bayonet charge and simultaneous air/sea/artillery bombardment. Multiple Armstris positions were overrun, and in the two northern pockets 7,000 of the reinforcements were captured on the beach. The main pocket was overrun as well, while the port area’s forts ran out of shells and had to surrender.
The 12th fleet was furious. The Norans had lost thousands, but Deval was gone. The Armstris commander, Admiral Stone, however, did not retreat his ships. Despite being warned of the enemy numerical supremacy he sent messages that he knew would be intercepted stating that he was going to return to port, then stealthily sailed to Deval Port. The Noran Navy was caught off guard, and Stone went on a rampage. Using his aerial supremacy, he attacked the Red Navy. Armstris Naval Bombers wreaked havoc, within minutes sinking the heavy cruiser Mortal and some carrier escorts, as well as some destroyers. Stone quite literally rammed the Noran ships. Around 350 Red Ships were beached, and the rest fell into chaos. Eventually Stone ordered a retreat to port, and was satisfied when notified of the result of “Stone’s Rampage”:
The Armstris lost 17 Devastators, 33 destroyers, 22 cruisers, 13 heavy cruisers, 2 escort carriers, 1 light carrier, 15 destroyer escorts, 10 submarines, 25 other small ships, 37 aircraft and 1 battleship. This was quite a large toll but nothing compared to the Noran losses: The Red Navy lost 500 Civilian Ships, 7 battleships, 2 carriers, 5 light carriers, 3 escort carriers, 68 destroyers, 37 heavy cruisers, 15 submarines, 102 cruisers, 30 Assault destroyers, 3 battlecruisers, 57 escorts, 12 torpedo boats, 3 heavy submarines and 15 gunships. A further 500 ships were damaged, some beyond repair. Despite this catastrophic defeat, having lost 869 ships to the Armstris 149, the Noran propaganda machine went into overdrive, gloating on its occupation of Deval and the first League “victory” of the war. The Red Union promised a liberation of the Grand Sea Route, Inca and Endrazona. Meanwhile the Red Navy began attempting to replace its losses.
The attitude in Armstris was also happy. None cared about the loss of Deval, and pointed to the major Noran losses and success of the Armstris Devastators. However, the Armstris generals weren’t stupid. The Grand Sea Route was significantly reinforced, forcing the Red Union to cancel the other phases of Kraken until further notice.
For the rest of 1914 the Noran, Pegronian and Armstris navies largely remained in port or conducted defensive/offensive patrols. However, on the land, things were heating up quickly.
Can you tell me the scale of these countries?
Relative position of each of the belligerents?
I need a bit more in-depth knowledge ob the West league, in particular the Red Union and it's relation to Noran union and URI.
I assume it's a east vs. West scenario and Armstris is the east with Pergoria being a big island nation to it's west. I may be wrong tho.
Also i can draw the parallels with ww1 and ww2, Field marshal Hog's inspiration seems to be from Yamashita ig. Armstris itself seems to be based on Japanese empire pre ww2.
Explain the capabilities of RF rocket artillery and the Devastators, any Submarines made yet as well?
WOW Karl you are very smart!!
The Red Union consists of Nora (a very large, industrious country), Wintonia, Mangonia and Xin (all small nations)
The Red Union was created after the War of the Noran Recreation, and is very similar to the Noran Union of a few hundred years back. It is situated to the north of the United Republic of Inamorta, both nations are communist and quite close. in 1914 the West League consisted of Red Union, URI, and Lesotho, but of course Lesotho was killed off quickly. The URI has complete control over the regions near it, Oslo, Great Olton, Tropia and more importantly the Eastern Alliance (the name is wrong, it is situated on the west of Demi-World but i wrote the name years ago and cant change it
). The Pegronian Union/ Pegronia is a fairly small island nation very close to the Red Union, situated on the Red Union's east.
I have no idea how you recognized the reference to Yamashita, good job.
The Armstris Empire IS based on Japan (came up with AE a few years back). It has an epic history, and Fu Hong was the founder, he is basically worshipped over there.
SP Rocket Artillery and SP Artillery are as i said, new weapons so still fairly "bad", a sort of early Stalin's Organs kind of thing. SP Artillery is a bit better tho.
Devastators are a very modern kind of ship, a sort of OP S-Boat, fast like destroyers, but more heavily armored with larger guns, a sort of Destroyer/Battleship hybrid if you will. the Armstris have the largest number of Devestators in the world. Submarines are around, including Mega Submarines.
Any more questions i will gladly answer.
ALSO here is a poll:
bout the devastators: how can the hull of a destroyer house the Massive Cannons of a battleship?
I assume single barrel, dual turrets.
May have to differentiate between battleship and destroyer, i think it's a vessel with the tonnage of a destroyer and the firepower of a battleship. (Really powerful weapon)
Also Hog seems to be carrying the army of Armstris, i can attribute this to the general failure of Armstris High Command staff. War is a team effort how long can one carry the team? I think the naval branch has competent staff, maybe Pergoria gave them training?
Cant say much about the Western alliance as the West Pact and most importantly, the Armstris empire is the MC or maybe even the protagonist.
Pergoria is a bit weird, Small nation but absolutely bullied Inamorta and the Red Union, i assume good general staff by tradition, (naval perhaps?) But seeing as they have really been unprepared i assume bad development of the armed resources, perhaps a decay of the civilian government and the logistics staff?
I prefer Armstris as it is the most described and although i want the Red Union to win, i vote Armstris.
Also props to Armstris, basically has an entire army whose troops are the equivalent of ww1 Stormtroopers.
Also seems to be moving fast, movement warfare, ww2 but set in the timezone of ww1??
Perfect description. Exactly, their becoming the greatest naval weapon, thats why the Armstris managed to sink so many Noran ships.Karl von Krass wrote:

Yes, the Armstris Empire is quite splattered, and the High Command is fairly fractured. Hog is only commanding Armstris forces in the URI theatre of war. The Armstris Naval Branch has brilliant staff, also PEGRONIA NOT Pergoria did NOT give them training. Pegronian Union is not a major naval power, also it has a strained relationship with the Armstris and as i said, is very unenthusiastic about the war, they just hate Nora so much their helping AE.Karl von Krass wrote:

West League not Western Alliance. Also, there are no MCs, this is NOT a story, it is a serious historical chronicle.Karl von Krass wrote:

PEGRONIA STOP SAYING Pergoria!!! It is small compared to Nora, but still fairly large. Yes, the Pegronians tore Nora's heart out in the Mesran War, but ultimately lost. They are VERY militaristic, the nation was born out of the military, and the general staff is amongst the best in the world. They are NOT a major naval power. Yes your last sentence is very true.Karl von Krass wrote:

Is it? I dont like that, i dont want an MC... Also why do you want the Red Union to win?Karl von Krass wrote:

Yes, the Armstris army is insanely elite, first in the world.
It is not moving fast at all, somewhat slower than WWI. Technological wise it is more similar to WWII. 1915 will see mammoth advances.
Any more questions? Doesnt have to be about just this war, ask about anything, indivisual countries, the rest of the world, etc
poll
Having moved up the date for Scythe, the United Republic launched its grand offensive on the 12th. 700 tanks/ vehicles, primarily Usurper IIs, 500,000 men, 4,200 artillery cannons and 1,000 planes poured over to use the “Bullcharge” strategy to break through Hog’s Line.
The plan was to launch a “decoy” offensive from Unten, and at the very least distract Hog, but the hope of capturing Dreville was still there. Meanwhile a concentration of armour, air and artillery would hopefully pierce Hog’s Line and encircle his forces in Regentville, a few lighter forces would set siege north, and Hog’s army would eventually surrender. Army Group A, B and Attack Force One are to participate (A and B to encircle Regentville, AFO for the decoy offensive.).

So, at 11:00 AM on the 12th of May 1914 the URI launched the biggest land offensive to date. Attack Force One aggressively attacked from the west, taking the Armstris by surprise. The local commander, Colonel Pulp believed he was being attacked by a major army, and ordered a general retreat and abandonment of the defence network (Pulp thought this was a major broad front offensive, and with communication down he believed the parts of Hog’s Line east and west of him had been breached, and feared encirclement.) to the Inamortans’ delight. Using speed tactics, Pulp’s army would be ravaged, ambushed, and eventually encircled near Dreville.
Meanwhile further east, the main offensive took place. The decoy’s success due to the temporary failure of Armstris communications came with a price- Hog had no idea that it had even happened, and therefore he was not distracted. When the Inamortans attacked, Hog ordered what many thought would be disastrous, an immediate counterattack. He, like Pulp, overestimated Inamortan forces and thought that attempting to hold the line would be stupid, retreating (with Armstris slow armies) would result in encirclement, but a counterattack might work, disorganizing the enemy and causing noticeable damage. In reality, he was incredibly lucky when his gamble did pay off. The URI forces were shocked, and although few casualties were suffered, their concentration was broken, officers and the command structure in temporary anarchy. Even worse, the Uben offensive was cancelled and its forces called in to supplement Army Group A.
Upon hearing the news of Pulp, and of the disjointed Inamortans, Hog orchestrated a strategy he himself called “my masterpiece”. He sent Pulp a message, telling him no reinforcements were coming, and that Regentville had fallen, that he was in retreat. The Inamortans intercepted the message (they were meant to, the Armstris knew their code had been breached and were implementing a new one) and cheered (Communication between Attack Force One and Army Group A was not available for unknown reasons, so Army Group A could not report the truth, Hog did not know this but hoped the Inamortans were too disorganized, since the command structure was still quite chaotic). The Inamortan general left a skeleton force to check Pulp, sure he would now surrender, and moved north to join “in the glory”. Pulp however, rightly guessed that Hog, an aggressive, disciplined officer would never advise him to surrender, and so he didn’t. Instead he launched “Pulp’s Counterattack” upon the Inamortans, who were butchered, and sent running.
Meanwhile in the north, Hog’s armies were wreaking havoc upon the separated armies. The Inamortan artillery and airpower could not assist with such a close-combat battle. The Inamortans had superiority in numbers, but the command structure was in chaos, and Armstris forces were much better equipped. While this happened, Hog sent 37,000 men south, hoping against hope that Pulp was coming to assault Attack Force One’s rear. By now, Attack Force One was doing badly, the commander having completely outrun his supply lines (as Hog was hoping). So, when on the 18th he was caught from North and South, his force was decimated, and he surrendered.
After the destruction of an entire unit, the Inamortans began a general retreat rather than push on. This would prove a fatal decision. The Armstris had been at breaking point, casualties suffered tremendous, but Hog’s gamble had paid off. He refused to chase the enemy down, (although he did finally use his few air assets to hound the retreating armies) and settled in again.
The losses by the end of the campaign stood at:
119 URI vehicles lost and 106 captured, 197,000 men lost, captured or wounded, and 87 planes lost. About 800 artillery guns were also captured/destroyed.
100 (of 500) tanks and 300 Armstris vehicles lost, none captured. 209,000 men lost, captured or wounded (all Armstris forces in the EA number 320,000 so this is a major loss of men), and 77 planes lost. A few forts and artillery guns were also disabled.
Whilst a Pyrrhic victory at best, in the long term and politically it was a major win. Hog was awarded the Emperor’s Medal. The URI’s morale plummeted, its forces bruised and all offensive operations ceased. This would give the Armstris time to properly reinforce their forces (to 1,230,000 men, 2,600 tanks and 1,360 planes by the end of May or start of June).
After the campaigns of May, the Pact was already halting all offensives until 1915, wanting to win absolute victories rather than enter stalemates. The League, however, kept pushing for offensives, but the URI firmly refused Nora’s requests for attack, and the Red Union would launch the last action of 1914.
next parts will be slow to come, i have to furbish and polish some stuff that isnt quite making sense
I REALLY think Armstris is the MC, the amount of Detail put into Armstris suggests propaganda film that highlights general, i mean Field Marshal Hog's achievements, the general competence of the Naval high command, and the performance of Devastators in general. And also the lack of information on the West League. Basically the West League are portrayed as Inferior class, No organisation, cannot defend their lands cowards which go about surrendering to armies smaller than them.
What i mean by MC is that there is a Bias in this particular telling of facts.
Evidently it can also be That their records were destroyed due to their defeat later on or atleast altered by treaty.
yeh, i want the Red Union to win, because if Armstris wins then Genocide will continue on a larger scale.
Why does this sound too much like the USSR? One mega large nation with a ton of resources and some small nations bound to it. Also, it is almost the same as a former state that it rebelled from.GrandEmpire wrote:
