I'm basically here just for the game stuff.I don't know how it was before on the forum but I am quite happy at the moment.I have learned a lot by reading threads and opinions of players and it has helped me tremendously. As for the "useless, unimportant and nitty gritty topics" which there are a few LoL,I just ignore them,if a thread is going off topic and have lost focus, I just stop following the thread.
Ebb And Flow Of The Forums Is Different.
I feel like the introduction of Carking into the forums changed the Forums from a legitimate place of assistance and help to a spam liking garbage post fest. This is not meant to offend anyone, but full offence to all of those who participate in this, i used to like this place, and it was moderated quite well, now its so absolutely trash that the mods cant bother to even attempt to try to moderate it anymore. This place also used to be a safe space for anyone of any rank, but now, apparently, rank = how smart and powerful you are, which is utter bullshit. I'm not blaming Bytro for anything, i'm blaming the horrible users who turned this into a straight up land-fill of burning plastic, not only are half the posts just spammed for likes, 9/10 of them aren't even relevant to anything to do to with CoW anymore. "Its not that bad, It can't be!" If you were around back in the younger Forum days, you know very well what i mean. I am leaving the forum, besides to check my wall and write some HELPFUL stuff every so often, i will not interact with shit-posting and like spamming anymore, do not flood my wall with garbage either, please, as i would like to read stuff that matters, in any sense of being. Do not take this post out of context and say that i hate the new gen of Forum (Carking joining+), trust me i do, they suck, and think everything is based around rank and how many likes you have (Some aren't like this, lots of love to those people
), which is WHY i dislike them. But this isn't about me entirely, its about the Ebb and Flow of the Forum, lets look into some examples. The 4 RP posts with like 200 pages each. shit-posting like-fest. Go back a few years and those conversations were 50 Pages max and contained everything that all 4 of these ones did. A real dedicated RP conversation that didn't turn into shit-posting and garbage conversations. Now, i know y'all are gonna hate me in the comments, and that's fine, doesn't affect me. Lets look at perhaps another example... Now this one is absolutely horrible, mo lord. The election posts. Not only were the previous ones actually fruitful and contain legitimate info that i think is quite fine, and its good content, the new one was literally just an argument about the word French. That's it. Most mind-numbing post I've ever read, some people did good, and that's really good, they're getting somewhere, kudos to them for knowing the difference between garbage and quality content, and not arguing about the word French... French, is there something wrong with the French? Is this some kinda Racist thing? Not sure, but it kinda pisses me off how people censor a word that describes a group of people who are very real and very much alive, and not all are bad. "It's just a joke!" Don't joke about censoring a population of people. That shit is NOT funny, only bad people and racist's find that stuff funny. Now i don't go around saying Ame***ans like they're a filthy disease we shouldn't mention. Now, if you are all still with me and not yelling in chat for me to leave faster or threatening me, lets look at some Play-through posts, ah yes, this, THIS IS QUALITY, South Africa Play-through's, Aussie Play-through's, Mexico Play-through's, All good stuff, good job guys....Until a while after Carking and his gang joined and messed them up, turning them into 60 page conversations and flooding them with garbage. Still with me? Great! Lets go over WHY i'm making this post shall we?
Lets see.... Aha, yes, this morning someone instantly assumed that i was in a bad mood because i didn't get a spot in some silly HWW game 3 weeks ago that ended up turning into, what I've heard to be, kinda bad and not worth the gold. I won't name names, as that is not the point, the only person who should receive lash from this post is me, and i very well expect it. Not sure what to talk about now, but lets see what else i can pull from the land-fill, nope, not much else, I think I'm about done here, hanging up my hat and handing my salutations to those who deserve it, i might add more later if i feel like it, and i probably will, this is not about me entirely, no, its to show people how much has actually changed. And it saddens me to see this happen, but as a good man once said; "Change is Inevitable, bound by time itself to happen, so instead of trying to revert it, we should instead hope for the best, and expect the worst." - [REDACTED]
I knew the Forum would eventually change, but for the worst, I did not think it would be so. I'll gladly chat with anyone who would like to discuss anything, but my entire argument rests here, forevermore, and to the end. (Oh btw Carking i know you'll find this, you have responded to threads that are legitimately 3+ years old, you're bound to see this eventually, if it be in 5 minutes or 5 years, this isn't entirely on you, you could have changed what you chose to influenced and instead turned this place into a thriving, nice community with the activity you brought with you.)
You may still find me in the CoW Game chat, you may also send me CoW mail or DM me from the chat, i will respond within 3-5 business days.
This is your's truly;

Well, yes and no.
As one of the older forum members (yes taffyta, I'm 40+ and that's an understatement), and y'all's Big Daddy, I want to add some points to this discussion.
First, there's no need singling out anyone, this is a community thing and even if there are people with varying contributions, like you say, it is an ebb and flow. No point shitposting.
Over the years (I've been a member since 2015 or something like that), the forum has been subject to an ebb and flow. There would sometimes be weeks where like three posts were made. People said, "the forum is dying", at several points in time.
Then some new active members would join, and post counts increased, discussing all kinds of interesting subjects and spreading knowledge about the game.
Then those people would leave for whatever reason, and the forum would return to the half-dead state again. I have thought many times that I would be the one turning off the light, yet always that new wave would come in again.
But it has never been like it is now. It was always possible to read every single thread on the forum in a reasonable amount of daily time. It would also always be about the actual game, and not (as fox calls it) pages long of garbage, divided into preferrably under-5-word posts. Sure there were flame wars and sure people drifted off-topic, but never to the extent we're seeing now. A particular, vocally loud group of people seems to be more concerned about their social status in "the gang" than in the actual game.
Actually it is kind of funny. For years I thought the forum would die some day by lack of activity and I would be sad about it. Now it explodes with activity, and I'm even sadder because all the garbage simply avalanches the useful content. And I find myself worrying if an overkill of garbage content can kill it as well.
I'm just wondering... let's assume for a moment that this is indeed about young versus old, and most of "the gang" are (very) young: why on earth would you pick this place for that kind of social group chat? It is a forum, ffs, developed in the early 2000's... like, meant for dinosaurs. Don't you guys have better places and newer chat tech to discuss those things? It seems your kind of conversation, these days, is much better suited for a place like discord, or even TikTok or instagram or whatever... why do you actually do it here? Is it just because this is the place where you happened to find the people you like to chat with? Because a forum is very useful to keep topic-grouped discussion together over time, so people can chime in even if they weren't around when the discussion started, but not really for the kind of fleeting talk you like so much... why do it here?

Well, this 'socializing in forum' thing has happened before too. It just works in waves. Based on previous waves, thee forums will be dead by mid this year. But it won't.
None of the previous waves can be compared to the current one, don't you think so?Claudio NVKP wrote:

The previous waves had similarities
'the gang', caring about social status there than the actual game, socializing here, "genzing".
The difference is the previous gangs were knowledgeable about the actual game and partook in playthroughs, guides, discussion threads.
Now everyone is just shitposting, no one is making any threads anymore so the old offtopic threads are catching attention which results in shitposting.
Another point is, the 'gang' is bigger and more active, and usually showcases reluctance in partaking in actual game discussions.
Besides you being a pain in the as sometimes i don't dislike you at all, lol, not sure where you got that from.Carking the 6th wrote:

I genuinely like the people here, rn
Honestly 90% of the people here are completely chill and I like them all. I have basically no qualms with any of the forums members (other then maybe fox after this) right now, why would I? No one here sucks, at least now that Arta and Comrade Genz are gone. None of the other old forum people like Claudio, Karl or Donk seem to despise the current state of the forums even if it does have its issues, so I reallly donβt see his problem here. The forums are fine, everything will be fine. This place has not been ruined into a toxic hellhole. The thing that makes me the saddest is that fox suddenly hates me for like no reason out of nowhere, we are in the same alliance and yet he never took me aside and ever tried to interfere with this huge issue he seems to see. You brought me here man! I should really stop ranting lol.
The gang i speak of consists primarily of few members, but i don't try to name names, the gang has, as i would call, "Followers" who just like the activity and partake because the gang posted there.Claudio NVKP wrote:

Maybe forums looks like some "antique" internet website, perhaps they like its old look? That is why the 2000s+ teen generation are here... just a conspiracy theory.
I haven't been in the forums for long enough however I've been here since the days of 1.0
In general this game's conversation sections have deteriorated since introduction of 2.0. The global chat is no less than a warzone for 90% of the time. I've even seen youtube channels advertising this game since 2.0 on contents which must attracts teens. I barely saw adds during the 1.0 time. The 1.0 UI must discourage 75% teens to play this game as this must seem outdated.

heh... so "vintage" isn't just about Polaroids and vinyl...?

So now we have an in-depth discussion about the history and trends of the forum?
Also about nukes and cars that actually are built to last, of course.K.Rokossovski wrote:

i learned the game by my self, personally i have never been here to read about the game.
the reason i came to the forums was to find alliance matches cuz CapBlood kept banning me from global chat for trying to find them there so he sent me here, but the alliance game system is pretty broken and have barely got a hit from it even though its been viewed 15,000 times.
i stayed cuz a bunch if players i knew from global chat all started to move over here, while i also ended up getting fully banned from global cuz i had 13 strikes than this being the only place i could communicate after that.
Same, -VIP-, and I used to do playthroughs, BUT NO ONE REALLY PAID ATTENTION, and say what you like, but I got bored
