Should the English language forum have an English flag? After all. The English, created, cultivated, taught and exported this language around the world.

Rule Britannia, lol!
*Gets out cassette player* "Did someone say Rule Britannia?"
Yes, I did!
*Plays Rule Britannia*
*Sets fire to the american flag*

What about the English flag? Cause, y'know, its the English language.
Whole heartedly agree. This has been a thorn in my side for quite some time. These days almost every game, website, application, everything with "English" language selections has the US flag, as if the language comes from there. The end of American superiory, one internet icon at a time :')comrade dave wrote:
It's quite simple EN stands for English meaning the English language, which originated from, you guessed it, England. This language was exported around the world during the age of Imperialism and is spoken by many. This means it has variations depending on the country of residence. (For example the U.S. say fries we say Chips)It would be astoundingly ridiculous to give the EN server a Canadian or Australian, or Maltese, or Chinese (Some chinese chaps speak English yet you wouldn't give the EN server that flag now would you?) or even U.S. flag because they are not where the language comes from.
We see the French server has the French flag and yet lots of African nations speak French but they aren't used for the flag are they? Quite simple, English language=English flag.
(I don't want to fall out with anybody over this, just telling people how I think it should go)
Lol, very true.
Well I'm American but I agree the Union Jack is ok and when you think about it they started it LOL Oh Happy Thanksgiving all
How about switching things around every so often. It becomes UK flag then maybe two months later US flag and so on and so on....
But then that raises the question, what about the dozens of other countries that speak English?
That was covered slightly earlier with the originator or major world powers only to be taken into account for selection.comrade dave wrote:

well we could use 12 english speaking countries and change the flag each month
Or we could vote frequently for the new flag.... or well if we go with the US and UK, we can change it like every three months or so
Changing it is a matter of seconds.
But it makes little sense! I don't see the French forum being represented by a Algerian flag! I don't see the German forum being represented by a Tanzanian flag! The language is represented by the flag. Up until the Pilgrim fathers, who were British, arrived in the U.S. the people living there spoke by using smoke signals!
Not a bad idea haha. I wouldnt mind. But as US and Uk are top 2 english speaking countries, I wouldnt mind switching between them either.BenjB wrote:

I think we just need to find an artifact of either nation's dialect hidden somewhere in the forums to determine the winner (posts/threads do not count)
What do you mean?
