Personally, I enjoy island countries. Or, at least, countries that have strong natural borders!

Favorite Country in 100 player map
Since earlier this year, when I was introduced to CoW, I have played all my games in the low maps- first seven in the tutorial, and a few others in the 39 historical map. After the holidays, I was thinking of starting to play in the 100-player map- perhaps pretend I'm Churchill in the UK, or pick Spain or some Latin American country because of my heritage.
My question, to those that have played in that map, is what is your favorite country in the 100 player map? ...

I like islands countries, where enemies have to go through your navy before invading you. Probably New Zealand the most because I'm not really a guy who likes to charge straight into combat on the first day

Got New Zealand randomly on 100p. Took 42 days to win. Was a big job.

Yeah it sucks that New Zealand and Australia are in the Pacific where there are minimal VPs. But Australia is slightly better than New Zealand as their manpower and industrial capabilities are stronger than NZ and the aussies control Papua New Guinea when the game starts, allowing an invasion of the Dutch East Indies without a naval invasionNooberium wrote:

It all really depends on how you build your country and military. Different countries provide more of two resources than other countries.
I for one like starting in South America. As a challenge though, I will start out in other areas. I am currently playing in a 100 player map and started out in Africa taking South West Africa. Just wanted to try something a little different this time.
I would say that I do not like and never start out in Europe. It is always a battle zone there from day 1.

North Ural is severely underrated, two rares + two oils and a good starting condition near the sea and good targets around you
