Favourite infantry weapon

So people of CoW, what's your favourite infantry weapon of all time?

Personally, I will always have some deep love for the first generation M16- yeah it wasn't the best working rifle to his the US Army, and the M14 could be viewed as a better, but its just something about its shape that I still love.

As for one I hate, it happens to the be rifle I'm likely to use in the British Army- the damn L85A2 *Distant swearing and booing* it just happens to be the most pointless weapon of the last thirty years.

PTRD-41

Russian 14.5mm anti-tank rifle that could penetrate 40-50 mm of steel armour.

It was almost 80 inches in length and could not be fired while standing due to knock back (it would floor you) and had no scope due to knock back (It would remove an eye).

It was basically bad ass.

M1 Garand is my favorite weapon of all time, I wish I had one in real life lol. Patton called it the greatest military innovation ever *well something like that*.

It actually was a huge change. Most rifles at the time were bolt action, and the M1 Garand changed everything. I mean, it was the first of a kind, and the only two other rifles I can think of that were not bolt action during WW2 are the Russian Tokarev and the German Gewehr 43. However, the M1 Garand was the standard rifle in the U.S. Army, while in the Wehrmacht the standard rifle was the Karabiner 98 Kurz and in the Russian army it was the Mosin-Nagant. Both of them are bolt action.
