Thanks Pablo, you just reminded me. The 110 was a failed project of Gorings. I like the Horten Ho 229.

Swept wing stealth plane. Jet propelled. Awesome.
Best german plane in during the war.Butter Ball Bill wrote:

German project interesting, although just he saw combat.Butter Ball Bill wrote:

Haha, funny joke. It wasn't all that fast and could not turn for it's life(literally). The most effective way for them to fight was a staffel to fly in a circle and provide cover that way.Pablo22510 wrote:

Seriously. Night-fighter, fighter, bomber, fighter-bomber. Great adaptability, speed, firepower, performance. Only thing it lacked was manouvrebality.
Which is one of the most important things in a fighter aircraft. Just because it does a load of jobs doesn't mean it is good, it shows that it couldn't do what it was originally designed for properly.
It is one of the reasons the German bombers suffered so greatly, some 109 squadrons didn't have the range without drop tanks so that limited their ammunition carrying capacity so the 110 was the primary escort fighter.
Yeah, i agree the 110 was bollocks as a fighter, but he was good at the rest.
agreed.
So we all agree it can't do what it was meant to do? Great.
But we can agree on what it was adapted to do it did rather well.
Not really, it was alright. If they had not bothered with the 110, left the 88 as a high speed bomber and pushed forward with the 177 everything would've been chipper.
