I suddenly have an idea: what if we all make a story by continuing the tale of the previous person/s? You may use quoting to continue a story, and you can quote any previous person, thus possibly creating branch stories. No word limit, only rules are that you may NOT quote yourself and have good grammar.

I'll start with a creation/worldbuilding tale.

Untold ages ago, the world was a beautiful place. Birds soared above the clouds, their great wings spread wide as they glided about in the air. Insects scuttled about, hiding in the shadow of towering trees. Humans, still untouched with the intelligence of the gods, lived in harmony with the environment. Sure, there was life and death, kill and killed, but it was all necessary for survival and food, and prey, once at the end of their life, would gladly offer their flesh in order to prolong the lives of the hunters.

However, the quabbles of the gods above would soon cause chaos among the world. Although called gods, they were merely great spirits tasked with governing the world and passing on their powers to younger spirits when their time to reunite with the world had come. One of these gods, Fai, sought to use humans, weak but with potential, as tools and servants in its (the gods had no gender) bid for power. It was this greed that brought it to imbue humans with intelligence comparable to the gods. Suddenly, the humans saw themselves no longer as part of the harmonious environment, but as its rulers.

Much to Fai's disappointment and despair, the humans did not yield to its command. Rather, they used this newfound power to make themselves stronger, killing more animals than their necessary sustenance. With intelligence like the gods, the humans began to rapidly expand their power. Using the skills of Morin, the god of crafts, they created weapons and donned themselves in armor. Taking the knowledge of Leyi, the god of fire, they burned down forests to make room for their expanding population. Finally, learning the wisdom of Nor, the god of stones, they built great cities and adorned themselves in superficial necklaces of gold and silver.

The gods, seeing this, initially banished Fai, forcing it to pass on its power to a lesser spirit, but later instead used the humans to their advantage. Despite human intelligence, the gods were far more cunning, and created divide in the humans. Suddenly, greed took over, and the humans began fighting amongst themselves, forming kingdoms and heralding an intelligent man or woman as their leader. To gain an advantage, they began worshipping the gods, pleasing them with incense and cooked food. Thus the gods began picking sides, warring with their favorite human kingdoms. Those who gained a god's favor would become powerful, while those who did not would perish quickly, being buried under the same ground they once stood on.

Life in this world was governed by one power known as 'Le'Hayum' this was the power that allows creatures to have the will to live. This power was found in all creatures be it a lower organism such as bacteria or a higher being such as a God. 'Le'Hayum' dictated which entity is 'alive' and which one is 'dead'.

'Le'Hayum' was divided into three kinds based on the effect it had on a living creature. 'La'Fet' is one kind of 'Le'Hayum' it is the power that makes a being to harm other creatures. 'Le'Het' is another kind of 'Le'Hayum' it is the power that makes beings help each other (selflessly in 'Le'Het' dominant cases). 'La'Get' is the third kind of 'Le'Hayum' this is the power that is the hardest to separate and differentiate from other kinds of 'Le'Hayum' this is the power of self sustainment, a creature with 'La'Get' dominance will always help itself by taking from others by harming or docile means.

The Gods were 'La'Get' dominant and they knew that it can clout their intelligence, but they still give in to it's dominance in their decision making process. They are the ones that know about the existence of 'Le'Hayum' and have kept it hidden from other living beings.

The Humans are 'La'Fet' dominant, they have to harm others even if it isnt required for their sustenance. Humans' decision making process is completely dominated by 'La'Fet'. They don't know about 'Le'Hayum' as the Gods have kept it hidden from them. Some wizards and witches had been trying to learn about this power but all were killed off by the Gods. But one survived...

One of these kingdoms was Rusna. It spanned a fertile valley with rivers flowing through them, making their crops easy to grow on the fertile soil, bringing them wealth and power. The people did not have to work very hard to secure a comfortable life. They were ruled by the Hiri dynasty, which passed powers over to its descendants without any notable uproar over the course of centuries. There were no reasons for conflict, as everyone recieved what they needed and wanted, and there was no jealousy in the hearts when someone recieved a little bit more than themselves. The arts flourished, philosophers pondered the meaning of life, and the workshops bustled with life, producing goods that made life even easier for all. The power of Le'Het drove these people, and they enjoyed all the benefits of it.

The valley was surrounded by arid mountains where tribes of barbarians had to fight for a miserable existance of hardship. They were sheperds, since the barren land wouldn't grow them any crops; but even the goats and sheep were skimpy and prone to diseases. They were protective and spiteful, living in small bands, in a constant state of strife with all the other bands; and when there were no external enemies, they would engage in bitter succession feuds within their own band. Le'Fet was the force that led them. The people of Rusna called them Gh'ari, which means simpleton.

It was these Gh'ari which attracted the attention of Yunon, the god of war. These were people he could relate to, with pride and fire in their souls. He took the shape of a human and seduced a young wench of one of the tribes, and she carried his child, Simmer. The boy was exceptional; he could fight like a lion yet talk like a fox; he could slay his opponents with his sword or convince them with his words. When he was merely fifteen years old, he had secured the leadership of his own tribe, and when he was seventeen, forced the other tribes into submission, becoming their undisputed leader.

Simmer then turned his eye to Rusna. He judged that the country was both rich and soft-hearted, and he wanted to take their wealth for his own people. He took two years to prepare, then an unstoppable army of fierce warriors flooded the valley. Rusna didn't stand a chance, it had no military tradition nor fostered the will to fight in any way. The last Hiri King was slain, his head put on a pike in the square of the main city. The lands were pillaged and the Rusnans were robbed of their posessions, submitted into slavery, working for the sheer pleasure of their Gh'ari masters who now lived in the comfort of the homes they had overtaken. Le'Fet had turned into Le'Get, and the land of Rusna suffered for it.

I don't know how many people have even entertained the thought of creating their own world and putting it down in words, but I would like to see what interests you if you were to write your own story. Is it the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, or something else?

Personally, I find a negative character progression (or whatever that's called) very interesting. Basically, it's where a character slowly regresses in character and personality, extremes being starting off as the protagonist and ending up as the antagonist. On the other side of the spectrum, the existence of a romantic interest just for the sake of being there and not being of any necessity to advance the plot is quite frustrating for me. It's almost as if friendship doesn't exist in the story - if you become friendly to someone, you automatically get into a romantic relationship with them.

If it is possible, I want to read something like a person slowly turning insane because of his/her tenacity and perseverance to face any obstacle in front of him/her. Or maybe a story of a person reminiscing the times he/she spent with her now gone/deceased friend. Or even a story about an aged war veteran trying to explain war to a newer generation who has forgotten all the horrors of war itself after a long period of peace.

Now, I ask: what do you like/dislike in fiction, and what ideas do you have if you were to write your own?

Anyways about the story that I am writing, it is about a small country named Verlusia which is based from the modern Philippines. It has problems in its own and currently development and opportunities are elluding it. Now, it faces problems from inside, insurrection and terrorism and outside with its neighboring countries that are planning to dismantle the government. There is a threat however that is running behind the scenes. Will this spell end for the country as we know?

I am now writing a sidestory to make probably contribute to the progress of the plot. I am also trying to make the theme of the sidestory more mature and explicit as well.

The Saratovs Wars

The Socialist Union consisted of SIRA (2,200,000), Kazestan (4,500,000), Sia (900,000), Stamborough (4,700,000), and the Soran Empire (13-19 million). All were former GSU nations, missing Sandorra which was under the Madian Empire.

The Socialist Union once again attacks the Madian Empire, this time even stronger. The Emperor is assassinated, and although the chaos is short-lived, it is enough for the SU to create a stable front. The city of Moloto, destroyed during the last war and rebuilt, falls and costs the Madians unimaginable losses of 2,900,000. The First Mechanized Army of the Socialist Union conquers Lithuania with ease, hundreds of thousands of Lithuanians surrendering quickly. As the year nears its end, The Socialist Forces invade Partha. The assault comes very quickly, and although the Parthans put up severe fighting, they cannot win. However, they never stop resisting, and keep on the “Never Surrender” campaign. One Parthan soldier holds out till the end of the war, eventually dying from pneumonia. His diary claims that he (with support from the actual Resistance group) cost the SU 20 tanks, 12 railways, 2 bridges, 1 fighter jet and exactly 673 men (seemingly all sniped or assassinated). His diary also claims responsibility for the Ker-Lu fires which destroyed a vital air base in Partha and killed 120 pilots as well as 1,200 men. This particular achievement is debated, but officially unrecognized, instead the glory claimed by Madian Commandos with no evidence. Still, the accepted achievements of River Ontario make him the most effective guerrilla fighter in history.

Hostilities in Pertland continued going into 1886, but eventually the region was stabilised and assault against Madia intensified. The city of Vilerr becomes the HQ for Socialist forces, used as a command centre and industrialised. The Socialists maintained air superiority with their Sky Wolf 13s, and Madian oil reserves are hit so badly that nearly all production stops. A group of 50 tanks are abandoned after running out of oil, and exhausted soldiers quickly surrender to the onslaught. Once again, winter starves the Madians, and the empire only produces a third of what it needs. On October 15^th, Madia rolls the Raven 1 off the production line. It is an effective fighter that slowly reconquers the skies. On the ground Madia’s militia and soft units suffer over 3 million casualties, but around November elite units begin to arrive. Further hope is raised when in December 23^rd 12 Socialist military generals are killed in Partha.

As 1887 begins, the war nears stalemate. The front line is out of the coldest areas, and now the Madians start holding up a formidable defence. Around June, hopes fall again when Madia loses Sandorra and Holland. It is depleted of armies in the east, but holds on. The SU spearhead turns quickly after just a week, and after the biggest bombardment in the war, Great Ponso is forced to surrender. Now, although Madia is fighting on all fronts, the situation isn’t as bad as it seems. The SU Air force has very nearly been wiped out, much of its heavy equipment gone and its front stretched thin.

1887 ends, and 1888 begins with the SU advancing agonizingly slowly. And in May, Madia’s salvation comes. It is the second biggest bombardment in the war, but more brutal than the first. Tens of thousands of Almanian, Doran and Mesran planes destroy the Socialist front troops, already weak and stretched. In Partha, the resistance movement actually takes back the capital. SU troops crumble in Madia. Madian reserve forces, now fuelled by Mesra and Alman, strike hard. The entire empire is quickly won back. Meanwhile Partha manages to re-establish itself. Alman’s navy shells the east coast. But the most major offensive is the Buffalo Assault. 2,130,000 Madian and Doran troops take back Pertland, trapping 700,000. They go on and hit the West of the SU, their pre-bombardment wiping out important farmland as well as 2 armies. They rush on to Saratovgrad and with Almanian help cover the East too. By the end of the year, the Soran capital is nearly surrounded.

1889, 16^th of November. Saratovs suicides, the Socialist Union collapses and the Queen regains her crown. The Madians have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.
