France.

Remember this date. November 13th 2015. A day when disaster rocked the world.

Late last night, Paris was attacked. Attacked once again, by ISIS. 120 innocent Parisians and other nationalities, have been slaughtered in cold blood, several of the barbaric gunmen have been killed and President Hollande has deployed the armed forces to the streets of Paris. Now I like a French joke now and then but in respect for those killed, for the next week I will make no jibes towards our neighbours.

Stay strong France.

But also we must not forgot the innocents in Lebanon who were killed in bomb blasts in Beirut, 43 dead and over 200 injured, their lives scarred by this inhuman act, the bombing of the funeral in Baghdad, the earthquake in Mexico all stark reminders of how we may be safe in our homes and on our streets here, but in the blink of an eye that can all change

. Now we mustn't ignore the rest of the world. Think of the Kurdish and Peshmerga warriors fighting against the very brutes that have orchestrated these atrocities, respect their sacrifices they are making while risking their lives. Think about the pilots over Syria and Iraq whether they are Russian, US, British or French, they all could be killed while carrying out airstrikes and the risks they take to prevent more of this happening on a much worse scale..

Together we stand divided we fall. We are stronger and better than ISIS. We also have what they don't, each other.

British=best. Duh!

I saw and I am surprised at how quickly France struck back. Today they led air strikes on Raqqa. We always joke about France waving the white flag, but not after November 13th, 2015. They will not surrender and we should all respect them and the dead for it.

ok, so I will probably get a lot of heat from this but I have to say it. I hate how everyone is fixating on that. now I know that sounds blunt and very inhumane, I feel sad for the people of France who lost families and friends BUT I hate how people are just looking to "civilized" countries. What about when ISIS took Ramadi? An estimated 500+ people were killed that day and that's just when they took the city another estimated 658 civilians were executed out side of the city and a lot people didn't even bat an eye....but the moment it hits a little closer t home PEOPLE LOOSE THEIR MINDS. What about the battle where Iraqi Armed Forces took Ramadi back? over 1000 casualties on the IAF side and 25+ MIA. Now I realize the fact that its sad 218 (according to CNN) died in an act of terrorism, but what about the people that have to live with it? People that cant afford to flee from it. I just wanted to say my peace. Now if you all want to lynch me then do it, just wanted to release some steam, and I apologies to the people I may have offended.

Yes, @Elitenoob0wnage. I also dislike that. The same day as Paris, 100 people were killed in Lebanon. Yet no one knew. Anyhow, I am one of the few who actually follow the military side of the conflict from up close. My mother has a friend who is fighting with the YPG. He was with the Division that took Kobane, and has photos.

@Pablo22510 , I don't have anyone over there but I try to keep up with the events.

Can you keep me posted too? I dislike the fact that news channels don't put a spotlight on the actual events that can lead up to, say, Mosul being captured. They just have the big things on the news, which really irks me.

Well, the Kurds just took Erbil, which was the city that linked Mosul with Raqqa, seriously severing ISIS's supply routes. The Kurds took heavy casualties, but they took it after months of siege. This is a step further to capture Mosul, as now it's surrounded and without access to supplies and reinforcements.

My friend also tells me that although ISIS controls the main cities in Syria and Iraq, the territory in between them is pretty much empty, making it ideal for guerrilla warfare and for Special Force troops to stage raids.

The past is a foreign country.

Erbil needed to fall, this is the beginning of the end, I think.

we should create a post for current events so we don't get nagged on.

Entirely true.
