General political census

Okay, well just out of a matter of interest. I am doing a poll, on the more common and main political ideologies.

Really, I think it would be interesting to see, what are the main polictcal stances here. Im going by a more basic spectrum. so vote!

Obviously we are going to all end up debating here, and so be it. Bring it on you leftest!

I am leaving our centralist views, just so you pick a wing..

and again, this is very broad, but just out of interest.

If you are an early voter, post an estimate below as well :)

I believe it is important to have somebody more commie than me that the capitalist pigs can kill first. It brings attention away from my own commie-ness.

You'll be next on their list though.

Sadly those balls are being stripped away by the politicians who like to be "politically correct" and hold back some of America's greatest ambitions for the sake of money and for the good of the few or in this case, their good ole rich friends.

Hopefully someone like Trump will work to erase the influence of money in politics. It's the primary root of incompetence in the current political structure.

Well, I half-agree with you on this one. If there one thing I hate on this planet, it's political correctness. That, and that alone, is what has made the EU the bulldust organization it is now. I disagree with you on the fact that money is the primary root of incompetence. The primary one is the one above.
The past is a foreign country.

I don't know how I wasn't more authoritarian. I literally said I supported single party systems. That should've maxed out authoritarianism.

do you know where most Swedish people want to go to college?

I actually know, a ton of Swedish people, and a few from Norway (through tennis, coach brought them over)

take a guess where they all wanted to go to college?

take a guess where most of them wanted to work( A few wanted to go to this country to study, then return to sweden)

Take a wild guess.. go on

you changing subjects. In regards to young people, in general a lot of young people want to go to college elsewhere, to get away from parent control, to explore other opportunities and so on.

It has little to do with them growing up in successful socialist country in this case.

Then why dont they go to Germany, or near by counties.. Id say the baltic sea is far enough, to get away. To be fair they didnt want to go cos of their parents, they seemed pretty adimit on going there, I was like " Yea that will be great, see you in Economics class in Harvard( when really I was like, maybe not ecomomics as much as jam making, and maybe instead of Harvard, Atlone IT)

Seriously do, go to venezuela and see Socialism at its finest

if you consider Venezuela as a true socialist country, there is really nothing else that can be discussed with.

The high tax rates( thks leftests) was the real issue, as well as bailing out the banks. The government never should have got involved.

Im not sure of any Leftest countires on top of lists.. pls inform me...

North Korea doesnt do too Good

Venuzala as well, seems to be struggling I would say

Ok Ill bite

Iceland, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Netherlands (our central right government you would consider ultra commie, no doubt), Germany (quite leftist in fact), Denmark.

All countries on top of nice lists regarding schools, general happiness, means of income, science, low crime, healthyness (you know we Dutch are the tallest bastards on the planet right? With the Nordic countries not far behind).

Enough evidence?

And yes, as a libertarian light I am playing devils advocate - if you are going to argue, make sure you have valid, indisputable facts. Capitalism is not Spagetti's gift to man, nor is any other -ism. As mankind, we should first overcome 'der Wille Zur Macht'.

Don't really know how they've failed. The thing that all of them have in common is that they're passing through economic recession, but they're not failed capitalist countries. Except maybe Greece. Before 2009 (which was when it started hitting hard in Spain), we were in the world's top 10 economies, and we are in the top 35 countries iwth highest GDP/capita.
Deficits that put the USA to 'shame', extreme unemployment (I sincerely pity the young in Spain), general poor economic country management. Even as a teenager, I figured that some (all? Including France of course) Euro countries would eventually crash and burn economically. A small note - not that the Netherlands is all good and mighty, I can name many a thing that is completely and utterly baffling when it comes to corruption and poor government spending. If we didnt have a giant gasfield in our north to compensate for this, we would be somewhere in the middle instead of the top. Just google 'Dutch Disease' and you understand what I mean;).

@Ocean: Btw, how could I forget the friendliest western country in the world, Canada. Regarding the school remark you made - sure a lot want to study in the USA, and I fully admit the best colleges are probably in the USA. But thats also the problem with the Anglosaksian approach to things. You either succeed and get filthy rich, or you fail, and will live in squalor. And the first category is called the '1%' for a reason.

Google Lorenz Curve, I rather have mine a little more....thin.

Edit: My political compass is actually more or less the same as yours, Pablo. I think Im ever so slightly more 'north' of you, did the test a good few years back.

I think an American just proved my earlier point.

And no, Trump is not the savior, he is an at times funny distraction who knows how to run a business, but I doubt he would be capable in the White House.

We (as in: the world) need someone who excels at both. No country so far has such a person in charge as far as I know.

I live in Spain, in case you didn't know. Yes, there is massive youth unemployment. Yes, our economy isn't doing very well. But our GDp has grown 3% each of the last two years, and a 3.5% is also predicted for next year. 500,000 jobs have been created just this year. I see the reality every day, and let me tell you that compared with a few years back, Spain is doing really well. In a few years, I can assure you that we'll be in the world's top 10 economies again. Now, with upcoming elections, it's just fixing some problems that we have, like the contracts and stuff like that, but we're doing fine.

Well, that isn't really the problem. The ecnomic recession has actually benefited the big companies, and now it's extremely hard for a small-medium company to succeed in Spain, not only because of the competence with TNCs that have very low prices, but also because of the bureaucracy. These problems need to be solved.
