Do you think global warming, is being caused by political debates?

Good joke.oceanhawk wrote:

Quite possible. You are using electricity to power your computer. The electricity is being made by burning fossil fuels, to eveaporate water so that the steam turns a tubine, which powers the coil which makes electricity. And so, as I am typeing this I am burning fossilfuels, that produce CO2 while combusted. Therefore, yes the political debates can contribute to global warming.oceanhawk wrote:

Uhhh... How can global warming be a thing, when 50 years ago scientists said there was global cooling?
But what if I have solar power?FilipALFA wrote:

Only about 5% of the human population has solar panels. I think.GreatbigHippo wrote:

Economics has nothing to do with civil liberties. I agree that capitalism was designed with good intentions, but you cannot underestimate the power of greed. It's like the atom, it can be harnessed for good, but it needs to be contained or else it will destroy you. Capitalism does not have sufficient containment.
Look, I'm not going to argue for capitalism because you obviously hate its guts, and nothing can convince that it's good. But let me argue against Communism. Communism, in essence, is a very good idea, but an idea that cannot and won't even work. Communism is like an abstract painting: when you want it to have a meaning, and therefore 'work', it loses its abstractness, or in this case its Communism. You cannot take from the rich and give to the poor, because they'll just leave. And even if you prevent them from leaving, their wealth cannot lasst forever. Another flaw is the lack of incentives. Even Nikita Khruschev once said "Call it what you will, incentives are what get people to work harder." A functioning society needs incentives. If not, efficiency is massively reduced, and the country won't do anything.

Lol, no offense, but what kind of medal is one that you give to 2 million people?Quasi-duck wrote:

Btw, putting a Stalin quote in my sig!
A great, inspirational one!Pablo22510 wrote:

I prefer this one myself: "Death is the solution to all problems. No man, no problem." - Unky Joe.Pablo22510 wrote:

Lol, well, the Pope used to be able to send the whole Christian world on Crusades. The kids too. Think he could do this today?Pablo22510 wrote:

I was wondering about it yesterday. If the Pope declared war on, say, Syria, how many of his followers would go to war with Syria?Quasi-duck wrote:

I'd like to know too.Pablo22510 wrote:

Let's force the Pope to declare war on Syria, and see what happens.Quasi-duck wrote:

I agree that communism has been abused in the past. But I continue to believe adaptations of communism have potential. Marxism, the form of communism that removes all incentives, will never work. Complete equality is impossible. Not all people are naturally equal, some are more capable than others. But you can remove classes without achieving wage equality. If somebody doesn't work, you can give him a bunk in a room with 20 people in it. At least he has some form of security. If somebody is responsible for an entire industry, you can give him some extra luxuries.Pablo22510 wrote:

Payment should be determined by a combination of how dangerous or difficult the job is and how important it is. Industries can be owned by the government. What I described here isn't Marxism, but it is still a form of communism. The basic idea has potential, it just needs to be given a chance.
