Economics has nothing to do with civil liberties. I agree that capitalism was designed with good intentions, but you cannot underestimate the power of greed. It's like the atom, it can be harnessed for good, but it needs to be contained or else it will destroy you. Capitalism does not have sufficient containment.
*changes tactics*Look, I'm not going to argue for capitalism because you obviously hate its guts, and nothing can convince that it's good. But let me argue against Communism. Communism, in essence, is a very good idea, but an idea that cannot and won't even work. Communism is like an abstract painting: when you want it to have a meaning, and therefore 'work', it loses its abstractness, or in this case its Communism. You cannot take from the rich and give to the poor, because they'll just leave. And even if you prevent them from leaving, their wealth cannot lasst forever. Another flaw is the lack of incentives. Even Nikita Khruschev once said "Call it what you will, incentives are what get people to work harder." A functioning society needs incentives. If not, efficiency is massively reduced, and the country won't do anything.
I agree that communism has been abused in the past. But I continue to believe adaptations of communism have potential. Marxism, the form of communism that removes all incentives, will never work. Complete equality is impossible. Not all people are naturally equal, some are more capable than others. But you can remove classes without achieving wage equality. If somebody doesn't work, you can give him a bunk in a room with 20 people in it. At least he has some form of security. If somebody is responsible for an entire industry, you can give him some extra luxuries.Payment should be determined by a combination of how dangerous or difficult the job is and how important it is. Industries can be owned by the government. What I described here isn't Marxism, but it is still a form of communism. The basic idea has potential, it just needs to be given a chance.
For sake A "global warming is bad" the ocean is rising.. bla bla bla...
Communism, even in this form does destroy the incentive to work. And you can tell that Duck to go take the plastic medals, are try get a refund. Not only that, but more risk is taken in the free market, and in this way discovery's in sciene, medicine and life are made!
I think you see Capitalism, as some fat crazy gut exploiting poor people..... thats wrong, that is really North Korea..
Capitalism, is where you can dream, work hard and reap the rewards. Communism dreams for the sewage, Capitalism shoots for the stars. No not everybody makes it, but people can reach their full potential, wheather their best suited for an economist, a bin driver or teacher. Eitherway, all can take risks, and work hard. And hard work should be rewarded..
A good example of how Communism will fail.
What if there were 30 people in the class. And there was a test, and we decided to divide up share the results.
After a few tests, the scores would keep going down, because nobody would have the incentive to do well, when somebody is piggybacking off you, and you can piggyback of somebody else. And the further point, is that anybody there, can actually get an A, if they work hard. And in Capitalism, or right wing views, People will work hard, because the best can be earned.
I will admit, you have good arguments, and it was a good debate, but you will come around
But seriously, the Icecaps in the Antarctic are growing according to NASA, but they also say this is because of Global warming, its rather cool.
