I see no real disadvantage to using nukes at all. They're powerful, they are easily transportable if you have a web of airfields (I usually do) and if you use bombers (I usually do), and they provide physiological victory over your opponent.
Highly Fortified postion ?Nukes?
Ok Like many i can easily see the disadvantages of using nukes. Or any anything that pretty much cleans provinces. Since most if not all is familiar with the disadvantages of using a nuke. Here i would like to discuss it's possible use in a limited capacity. This will also include strategic bombers which are also designed for clearing a province of building.
First lets lay out the situation that has brought this to my mind and likewise to this forum.
You in all your glory have been spreading out conquering all the lands that you come across. Not only have you taken multiple countries but you've also rebuilt and made them stronger then ever. Now a former ally on the borders of your core country has been acting suspiciously. He hasn't done much in the way of expanding his territory. An hasn't attacked his last known intended target. Instead he has been massing a alarming large army close to your border.
While you easily have more land and resources then him. This has been constantly poured into war across the ocean. War is likely to break out and when it does your not prepared. Your army is days away your borders are fortified but it won't hold against such a massive army. How do you win a war against such a foe who can easily take your home land? Given enough time the problem can be fixed after all you control vastly more land and resources your production speed is superior. But he has been amassing a army for awhile. it can take many days before you have anywhere near enough to win against such a foe with your frontier lines way off. Suddenly you recall the great Alexander and how he failed far from home.
On strategy comes to mind admittedly a ill favored one but one that might save you. A war of attrition could be won. While he might have the numbers he has no where near the resources that you have nor the land. In a war of attrition he might loss. Thus you look at all his provinces that provide resources for him. With enough strategic, and tactical bombers, combined with missiles and nukes. One might cripple the enemies resources and bring their country to halt. You know this would also prevent you from gaining access to it but with your vast lands and resources your not worried you can rebuild and its a small lost to ensure your homelands safety. However knowing many voices speak against this method first before you make such a decision you confer with your generals and advisers.

Plus they make a big bang, a nice movie and a newspaper article. I mean nothing like putting fear to those around you than showing them the mushroom cloud.
