how do I roleplay

Hey to tell you the truth I don't know how to role play. sadly. Can some give me an example of how to role play.

Well, I like to start off by putting on a cowboy hat and acting like I'm and old western gunfighter. I make her act like she is a damsel in distress and is about to get run over by a train. Wait a sec am I on the right forum ?
