Mock Presidential Race pt. 2

Hello! Back again with another mock presidential race!

This one will share a lot of things with the first version however, this one will be a race for the Prime Minister of The United Kingdom!

Due to the rather recent resigning of David Cameron, I thought it would be a good country. Many of you suggested we should do a race for a different country! So here we go!

Same rules apply as the last race, (reference thread "Mock Presidential Race" in "off topic")

However you will be running for Prime Minister of the United Kingdom!

The following political parties in the race are the following,

PartyPolitical PositionLeader

Conservative and Unionist PartyCentre-rightDavid Cameron
Labour PartyCentre-leftJeremy Corbyn
Scottish National PartyCentre-leftNicola Sturgeon
Liberal DemocratsCentreTim Farron

Have fun! Remember candidates can respectfully debate each other!

Poll for party representatives will end July 15th!

After that, the winners of each party will move on to the PM race!

Everybody can vote, and your vote can be changed at anytime! Just remember to use that feature responsibly!

I'm your host Vex03,

  • Let's get RIOOOGHHTT into the debates! :P

Tesla relies on the govt. because if it didn't have access to the main electrical grid - owned by the govt. - then people couldn't carge their Tesla cars and Tesla wouldn't sell shit. Btw, those power plants Tesla uses for their electricity use fossil fuels. Most of them, anyway.

The past is a foreign country.

deadly, that awsome point I was trying to make, is that the market will innovate like it has with tesla..

And BTW, it is actually possible for the electrical grid to operate in the private economy :P

You're missing the point. It needs the national power grid to operate.

@Pablo22510 the US uses a fair amount of renewable and nuclear power.

So every company in Ireland, and the US for that matter, only work because they rely on the government for protection from from crime?

Basically, yeah. I mean, you said yourself before anarchy won't work. No govt. means no police or army, which means we're basically in the Middle Ages with guns, which would not be good for anyone... except your local warlord....

Last I heard, that happens in some places of Afghanistan and such. You get a group of guys with AK-pattern rifles, and run amok, raping and pillaging as they wish.

Anarchism is awful, but that will only happen in this day and age, if there is a huge government...

seriously, a huge government like in a commie of socialist world, they also have the power to take stuff away from the people, and they can do that..

But in realty, there are basic pieces of infastructure that are taking for granted, regardless of left or center right..

Security and Physical infastructure being so..

Also you can say that BMW rely on the government because their cars they sell need roads..

but really, a private market can always make roads or build electricity ducks, if the case may be

But they don't, and it won't matter if Jimmy Jihad comes along, tells them they are working on the Sabbath or something, and pops 'em all.

You're saying terrorists are killing CEO's of large companies?

Over population and under funding is the problem with that. Especially since lots of trained doctors are going abroad, I think nurses are too.

Yeah - the US. Take Spain for example. We have ten times more sun than Germany, yet somehow manage to have ten times less solar panels.
The past is a foreign country.

*cough* buy solar panels *cough*

I don't know about Spain, but in the US the electric grid is privately owned by several companies.

Yet it is still knocked out by tornadoes and hurricanes, typical private companies, doing everything on the cheap.

So have your own solar panel or wind turbine!

Yep, and ask the govt. for funds. You can do that in Ireland, not sure about the US.

You used to in some places. Not any more.

Pity. How cheap are they over there (solar panels and windmills)?

A couple thousand $, I think, though you can sell it to the electric companies and make a profit in the long term. ( the electric companies are legally required to buy solar power)

Ah, thanks.

This depends on how much solar stuff you get, of course.

Obviously, and if you're in Alaska or Nevada.
